Jack's System

Jack chased Sherlock into the building and entered the apartment, But there was no Sherlock in front of him. Just two sofas were looking at each other, gathering dust.

He looked around wondering if Sherlock was playing a prank on him, but he still didn't understand what was going on. If the information he had on Sherlock was right, the man was not one to pull pranks on someone.

"Boo!", came a voice from behind him and he saw a man with a pipe in his mouth. Jack was fanboying the moment he saw Sherlock. His eyes went wide with excitement and the thought that he was meeting his idol made him forget the fact that Sherlock, was supposedly dead.

"Mr. Holmes, I have always wanted to meet you. I am a big fan of your work, and I have been in search of the techniques that you had used in your life. While some of them have been explained to me, I still want to read your thoughts on it", he began to blabber when Sherlock cleared his throat.

"Just Sherlock would suffice. And I have not much longer, so allow me to speak", he said as he took a deep breath from his pipe. That was when Jack realized that he was talking to a ghost, and Sherlock was supposed to be dead.

"Alright. Now that your enthusiastic self has been dismissed and you are now in a much more serious manner, I would like for you to listen to what I have to say very carefully. The Holmes as you know it is no more".

"What I am meaning to say is that the times when they stood for justice are long gone. They are now corrupt, not everyone as there are some honest ones. As my apprentice or fan, as you people have coined the term, I would like for you to find it out".

"Be mindful, as they have the same intellect as me. To be on the other side with my intellect, I wish you luck".

"Second, I need you to investigate my death. I am sure of one thing, and that is that I was murdered. But how and by who has always been the question, and this dying soul would love to know his answer. I will not appear until you have the answer, and thus you can take your time with this one".

"And finally, I am parting you my vast knowledge and techniques so that you may be able to use them in your everyday life. And yes, my book has been broken down and spread all across the planet. You might have to go around the world to collect the original text for 'The Art Of Deduction'.".

"Any questions that I may need clear for you?", he asked. A dumbfound Jack just nodded his head, thinking it was admiration that made him dream this way. Sherlock pushed him and Jack felt falling right out of the window and his vision went dark.

Sweat was on his face and Jack was out of breath as he jumped out of the sofa. Sarah was on the opposite side, and she looked at him with worry. Jack began to look around frantically and saw that he was still alive.

'Phew! That was close. I thought I was dead!'.

That was when he noticed something floating in front of him. He waved his hands in front of his face and saw it pass through the thing in front of him.

Sarah was looking at him queerly as she looked at him behaving strangely. Her tilted head and eyes were filled with curiosity. Jack, on the other hand, was mesmerized by the thing that was floating in front of his face.

"Just what are you?", he was wondering as he looked into it. There he saw texts floating in front of him, and he began to read them.

[Pulling up body status]

Jack was amazed at what he was looking at. He saw his whole being shown to him, and the proportion of muscles that he had. He got up quickly and began to touch his arms and legs.

"It seems like this thing is indeed right. My right and left are not developed equally. and that is why I always favor my right to the left. I always felt my left side was weaker, and now I understand why", he began to ponder.

Sarah was now peculiar if Jack was alright in the head. She was confused about why someone would act this way.

"Maybe he hit his head somewhere? Or this is how he behaves most of the time?", she thought as she looked at her roommate, who was now behaving a total opposite of how he was when she first met him.

Jack didn't mind her stare and was intrigued by the Holmes System. He wanted to know what else it would tell him about himself.

Just as he thought about how to improve and bring both sides to equal strength, a solution popped up in the window.

[Hit The Gym]

[Workout your right lesser than the left. Muscles take time to develop, and the sides that are used less take time. Much more effort is needed to improve, and that would bring to the same level]

[Caution! Just training would not improve proficiency]

Now Jack was confused about the word proficiency, and what it meant by that. He thought hard about the word but nothing popped up.

"Seems like I might have to figure this out on my own?", he thought as he looked around and stepped into the shower.

After the shower, he changed into sports clothes and left the building to hit the gym that he visits regularly, the one that is in the station.

He looked around and looked back at the system that had prompted him to work much more on the left side to build strength. He picked up the dumbbells and began to sweat them out.

Something that helped him calm down was a run and working out. And right now, that was what he needed. He never understood why, but he just went along with it. Plus, it helped him stay fit, and thus he took it as an advantage.

[Burned stored calories]

[Wrap it up!]

"But I haven't done anything yet!", he thought and looked at the window. He didn't know how to close it yet, and he wanted to know how.
