"How can you make a bad decision like that? What if your father didn't see you last night." Mom's voice was filled with unhappiness when she scolded me and it made me lower my head in shame.

"I'm sorry," I replied feeling ashamed about my decision also.

As if Father understood what I just said, he asked with furrowed brows, "What do you mean mate?"

"Yes, I have a mate who rejected me." I nodded and replied with honesty that made my father's frown deepen.

"That's rare. Lycans don't have mates. We choose our mates ourselves." Mother explained.

"But what about Maverick? Can you explain more about the Lycan's mates to me, please?" I asked due to curiosity.

"Lycans get to choose their mates, compared to normal werewolves who are already bestowed with fated mates. Although, there are rare cases where a Lycan is mated to a werewolf but it's actually one in a million." Father explained which made me nod.

"But... Can you explain more about my childhood to me?" I asked quietly, wondering what my childhood before I was lost in the werewolf's land was like.

"You're so cute and sweet when you're little. This is your room and there are many of your childhood things well preserved here." Mother explained which made me nod in understanding and happiness.

"How did you lose me?"

"It happened when we took you out to the werewolf's world for an understanding. It was said that you sneaked out to play but despite how we searched we couldn't find you" Father explained with reddened eyes.
