A Small Setback

We walked up to the next house. It was very, very small. The closer we got the worse it looked. The whole house was broken! It looked like a construction site. I couldn't believe that someone actually lived in there. There were steps leading up to the door. We started walking up to the door.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH! "

I turned around as fast as I could. Too fast.

"AGHHH OOF! "

Me and Kiara had fallen through the wood leading up to the door. Brad immediately ran to Kiara so they could both help me out. Brad yanked Kiara out the hole and helped her up. I was beginning to sink deeper into the stairs, shards of wood cutting into my skin. It felt like small knives piercing my thigh.

"Isabella! Hang on we are going to get you out!" Brab yelled.

Both Brad and Kiara took my arms and started to pull me out the hole in the stairs. The more they tugged, the more shards of wood cut into my skin. I was crying in pain. With one final pull, Kiara and Brad yanked me out the hole. From my stomach and down I had been cut.

"Thanks... but-" I struggled, " do any of- you have a m-medical k-kit?" I asked in agony.

Both Kiara and Brad looked to the door behind us. We were on a person's porch after all... couldn't they help us? The answer was no. When Kiara knocked on the door no one answered.

"I guess we could take you to my house... it's the closest house from here that we can be sure has medical kits." Brad said softly with a frown.

"So are we just going to carry her?" Kiara asked.

Brad simply nodded. The shards of wood were slowly yet surely getting deeper into my skin. I yelped as I tried to get one out my hand.

"Okay, I will take the head and you will take the legs." Brad said and immediately got to work.
