Chapter 38 - Once there was six, now there is five.

Within the throne room of Agnos (the current Overlord), six figures lined themselves before the Great demon whose six red eyes shone with the golden hexagon within them.

The six demons before him were quite notable, each one of them lead a single faction of the demon society and in many ways, they were akin to the seven great family leaders of the Gifted.

The first to the right was none other than Ronin Arcanus himself, the noblest of the demon lords by far and also the oldest amongst them. As he were now, Ronin had tied his long hair in a bundle at the back of his head. But other that, he remained the same - having a dignified sense about him and dressed neatly in a burgundy jacket that fell a little below his hips complimented by a plant pair of pants.

The second in line was a strictly man who wore a pair of glasses, which quite humorously tilted to the side. However, he didn't bother to fix it as he faced the Overlord. And you might have made the connection of this little trait to an unruly demon that once attacked seven human ambassadors. And you would be right for making that connection since this man, whose face was stiff with lines running down from his eyes and mouth, was none other than Los Liothon, father of Ellios Liothon.

And past those two were four other demon lords – a fat round man, who was rather stubby and short for a demon but was still taller than King Agnos, a buff, blue demon with four arms and a mighty silver beard, a long slender man with one eye and a pair of thin wings similar to the ones you'd see on a dragon fly and finally, a beautiful, voluptuous red woman whose raw beauty and sex appeal was so great that she was ordered to always wear a black, hooded coat so as to not tempt any around her.

With those six now lined in front of him, the Overlord began to speak. "You six should know why I've called you here." Agnos then looked to the fat demon, who had been chowing down on a piece of roasted meat. "Boracks! What have you to say for yourself?"

The fat demon finished his meal quickly and then threw the bone to the ground. "If you're going to kill me…" He licked his fingers, one by one. "Then do it already. I know I messed up so I can't very well save myself at this point."

Agnos smiled wickedly as his brows raised with devious intent. "No, no, no, my dear Boracks, killing you would be a waste. But since you know what you've done, I'll skip the formalities." And then the Overlord appeared in front of the fat demon. "Because of your negligence, a very important person has fled my Kingdom. And recent news have suggested, that this person has left Hell with an associate in tow." The overlord pushed his face against the fat man. "I will have you go after her."

Boracks didn't flinch at all. Instead, his eyes lit up and he swung a hand at the Overlord who simply vanished away to avoid it.

At that, all other Demon Lords looked to Borracks. Ronin was the first to address him. "What are you doing? To raise a hand against our King is treason! And a bold move to do considering that we Great Demon Lords are all here."

"Oh, shut it!" yelled the fat demon as his mouth opened wide to reveal several layers of teeth that spun and spun as a beam of fire emerged and shot at the old Ronin, who only stood there as the fire passed through his intangible body. As the demon's mouth returned to its former size, he pulled from his pocket another drumstick and continued to speak. "We all know what he's like…" Boracks took a bite from his meat. "Even if I do accomplish his task, he's going to kill me all the same. So why even bother."

Los finally took it upon himself to fix his crooked glasses. "Our King decides our faith, we have no right to question that. You should be honored that you even have a chance to redeem yourself for your mistakes."

"Mistakes." The fat demon batted an eye. "So what? I've let a little girl slip past my nose. It isn't a big deal. She's just got strange eyes. That's no reason for this whole commotion." Then Boracks turned to the other three demon lords. "What about you all? Don't you think that our Overlord is just being a bit overcautious? To think that he's scared of a little girl with no real strength to her name."

The woman had nothing to say to that and only pulled her hood even more over her face as she turned away. The blue man laughed heartily as he chugged a giant barrel of ale that he previously had strung over his back. And the one eyed demon only said this, as he walked in long strides away from the throne room. "I've no time for this. My lord Agnos, if this matter is just of Boracks negligence, then I will now return back to my duties."

"Hold on Derianathos, there's more to it than just that." Then the Overlord, who had been watching the whole commotion from his throne, with one leg rested over another and a hand braced against his cheek, looked again to Boracks. "So, you really have no intention of listening to me?"

Borracks chuckled as he took another bite of his meet. "I'd tell you to go to hell but we're already-"

A head rolled along the ground as blood sprayed from Boracks' body until it wobbled and fell forward to stain the marble stood with a different shade of red. Despite that, Borracks' hand still held tightly to the piece of meat he had been eating.

It had happened in the blink of an eye. No, even less than that since the others hadn't even seen when Agnos moved away from his throne where he still sat at this very moment.

And at that, the five remaining demon lords were once more reminded of why Agnos was the Overlord. Immediately, without a single word from each other, they once more lined up and listened to what their small Overlord had to say.

Immediately after eating, Evan made his way back to his room. Though what had just happened was indeed a surprise, with everything else that had happened to the boy, this much wasn't that big of a deal. And regarding this new development, his grandfather simply sighed and told him "Stay calm Evan, you've already had a change of Gift once. Another time will not be so different. Eventually, with some work and research, we will be sure to find out exactly what has been happening to you."

So Evan supposed that this wasn't as big of a shock. At the very least, just as he did with the Regelia ability, he retained his free nature that allowed him to move the water and bend it to whatever shape he pleased.

Though, right now, he didn't really want to train. He would have just liked to lie down some more and think about what had been happening, more so about the dream that he had last night.

But as he was walking up the staircase that would lead him to the second story of the castle, the little girl accompanied by Skull Jones approached him.

"You…" the little demon said. "You're something." She added.

"I'm something?" Evan asked as he pointed to himself. "What something?"

The little girl shook her head. "I'm sorry, I don't know the details. I only know that I sense something strange about you. It isn't exactly danger but it is very much 'something'. What that might be, I can't tell you since I don't know myself."

"Oh…" Evan said as he returned his arm to his side and began walking up the stairs to go back to his room.

"What did you mean by that?" Skull asked to Emma.

"I don't know. I've already said that." Emma replied as she, too, walked up the stone staircase.

"I see." Skull said and followed her up but then stopped as he watched the little girl walk to her room. After which, he turned around and made out of the castle to go towards the stables where he would spend some time with Sally.

"Okay, so now that I've finished explaining." Agnos said as he hovered playfully about in the air. "Who would like to volunteer to go after the girl?"

Los raised his hand. "I will gladly take that task upon myself. Though, I would like permission to take my son along with me as well."

"That's fine." Agnos replied. "Well, in that case, then I suppose that this meeting is adjourned. Be on your way now."

And at that, the demons left the throne room to return to whatever it was that they did. But Los, in particular, immediately went to his personal mansion where he then dragged his son from his room and then went immediately to the nearest gate where he spoke strange words as a light glowed along the ancient stone. And without wasting any time, he along with Ellios entered the human world.
