A babysitter

The old man noticed Niard's surprise and denial on his face.

"There's no such thing as magic; everyone knows that. Only scientific facts are what I believe in," Niatd replied, uncertain about what he was hearing, heading towards the bed on the other side of the room.

"Take this book; it will change your perspective on magic," insisted the old man, handing the book to Niard. As soon as Niard touched it, Jacob began to evaporate completely, every cell of him disintegrating to dust.

"Guards! Help me! What's happening to him? Jacob is disappearing!" Niard screamed, watching a bright white light illuminate the room.

"You must determine your fate, boy. My time here is over, and your story begins now," said the old man, his words echoing, as he turning to dust without a trace.

Niard's heartbeats increased, feeling fear, sweat pouring down his forehead, pounding on the walls of the room but to no avail, as if he were completely isolated from the outside world.

A drop of his sweat touched the book which Jacob gave him, emitting a bright blue light that blinded him, making his condition worse than before.

"The Galaxy Wars System welcomes you, O player. Do you accept to be the next ruler of the galaxies? Registration to the system begins now...

Rejection of the system entails the universe and its self-destruction within three seconds.

Acceptance of the system results in rewards surpassing expectations, granting three wishes upon completing the main tasks, and also ensuring the salvation of the universe."

Niard heard the voice as he opened his eyes to find himself in a black room, a display screen showing the countdown for his response.

"Player, do you accept the system?" the system asked . Niard swallowed hard, hesitating, with five seconds left to decide before everything would be destroyed.

"My life is already a trash, and I had to do something for the sake of humanity, someone must fix this damage"

Niard thought while gazing at the screen falling down.

"Yes, I accept the system," Niard replied, closing his eyes in the last second, slowly opening them to see the screen displaying a few words.

"Congratulations on successfully registering, Niard Lux. The system will now commence its operation."

The sound gradually faded away as Niard felt his consciousness returning, hearing many voices speaking above his head.

"Hey, boy, are you okay?" One of the guards asked as soon as they entered the room, searching for any trace of Jacob but finding none. Even their CCTV camera failed to capture any images of him; all recordings were blurry and unclear.

"There's no breach of the quarantine room. Do you think your idea of putting Niard with that old man's dementia was a good one?" asked another guard in a low voice, examining Naird's body still lying on the ground, his eyes open, staring at the ceiling, unresponsive to any external cues as if he were isolated from the world.

His three-night coma baffled the scientists at the academy. His mere existence had violated all empire laws of giving an imperfect specimen a chance to be a live, he also baffled their sophisticated system.

"Ugh, my head," Naird muttered softly, memories of the moments before his system update creeping in slow motion. He looked around the room he was in, seeing a soft bed and some devices attached to his body.

He rose from his bed and threw away those devices that had started flashing. As he thought about the system, a screen with some phrases appeared before him.

"Naird Lux:

Level: Zero.

To advance to the next level, you need to obtain 1000 level points.

Intelligence: 100.

Combat experience:10.

Offensive skills: (Deadly Punch Level: 0)."

Naird clicked on the window displaying offensive skills and was surprised to see his attack level at zero, even his intelligence was below what he expected.

"Wait, why does this system seem useless? Galaxy wars system for real!" he thought to himself as his system display disappeared, and he looked carefully at his body. He didn't notice any changes in himself; he didn't seem to have gained any unique power or been healed from any physical illness. He looked completely ordinary.

"If you're done admiring your naked body, put something on and follow me if you want to keep your head," said a girl with purple hair tipped in black, her eyes were the color of the sky, wearing an outfit that reflected her body's beauty.

Naird became aware of himself and turned to the other side in embarrassment.

"What's up with this woman? Is everyone in this place crazy?" he asked himself, scanning the room for something to cover himself with. He found a disk on the table containing a suit that he put on, which was fitting him perfectly.

"I'm Tala. I'll be monitoring you from now on. You'll join the Imperial Military Academy. Let's go," Tala said with a serious tone, showing no care for Naird. Anger and hatred were evident on her face.

"Because of you, Naird, I missed a golden opportunity to get closer to Vee, and I won't go easy on you even if we came from the same past," Tala thought to herself as she watched Naird's faltering steps. He seemed scared, constantly looking around.

"He looks like a failure. Why did the system suddenly malfunction because of him? And why did they make me, Tala, the prime example of perfection in this empire as a mother's eye on him? I'm not a babysitter," Tala thought to herself, tightening her grip on his hand. Naird now wanted to stay alive; to change this world, he had to improve himself.

"But how can I improve myself? This place is new to me, and my knowledge of this galaxy is zero. I've even trapped myself by accepting this system," he whispered to himself, suddenly stopping walking. Tala turned and gestured for him to enter the room first. He didn't argue and did as she instructed.
