Leave Chaeyeon out of this

It all started at Heekwon's office, where it didn't take long for Chaerin to arrive after she received a phone call.

The door opened and Chaerin walked in.

Inside she saw Heekwon sitting at his desk and her father kneeling in front of him.

"Chaerin, you're here! I knew you wouldn't abandon your father. Where is your sister?" her father said the moment, he saw her.

But she ignored him, approached Hee-kwon, and bowed.

"Why are you ignoring me? I asked you a question." Her father asked her, but she just looked at him with a cold stare.

"Sir, please forgive my father for whatever he did."

"Miss, I have nothing to forgive. As I told you on the phone, I called you here to talk."

"Talk? I don't think we have anything to talk about."

"Don't be so sure of that. Ask your father."

Turning to her father and continuing to look at him with a cold stare, she asked him what exactly happened. He, after looking at her, lowered his gaze to the floor.

"Chaerin, my child, I told you to bring your sister too."

"Leave Chaeyeon out of this."

"I can't. She has business with this man."

"What? What are you talking about, father?"

"I have a great debt to him. It's the only way for us to repay him."

"Us? You're the one who took out loans to play around. Neither I nor Chae-yeon have anything to do with any of this."

"CHAERIN KIM! HOW DARE YOU ANSWER YOUR FATHER!" her father started shouting, upsetting her, and bringing back bad memories from the past.

A past full of constant abuse and abandonment. But she found the strength to resist him. She had to do it to protect her sister.

"Father, you sold us out! And you continue to call yourself father?"

"I only need Chaeyeon. Call her to come here."

"I told you, leave Chaeyeon out of this. I'll do what she has to do, so leave her alone."

Her father smirked.

"Until when are you going to take your sister's place and protect her?" he whispered to her.

Chaerin didn't answer him. Instead, she turned to Heekwon, who was watching the girl and her father talk indifferently.

"Sir, will you accept me instead of my sister?"

"Okay, no problem."

"You, see? No problem." she said turning to her father.

"Are you talking back to me again?"

Chaerin didn't answer, only looked at him coldly.

But her father was pissed off by the look on his daughter's face.

He raised his hand and, with all his strength, slapped his daughter. She didn't react.

"I told you not to look at me with that look."

Heekwon, seeing this scene, was disturbed.

What kind of father is he who not only sells his daughter to gamble, but when she reacts about it, he hits her. He thought.

Her father raised her hand again, but this time Hee-kwon protected her.

"Beomhyu Kim, you don't need to make things difficult. Don't forget that you owe me, and I have the final say in all of this."

Chaerin continued to be expressionless until her father left the office. At that moment, since she couldn't stand up any longer, she fell to the floor.

"Miss, are you all right?" asked Secretary Park, who was entering the office at that moment, in shock.

He helped her up and sit on the couch, even though she said she was fine and didn't need help.

"What happened here?" he whispered to Hee-kwon.

"Nothing of the same. Oh yeah, that's my future fiancée."

"Fiancée-to-be?" shouted Chaerin without realizing it.

"Miss Chaerin, this is my secretary, Seohoon Park. He will fill you in on anything you need to know."

"Wait, sir."

"I'm very pleased to meet you even under these circumstances. So we can get started."

"Start with what?"

"With the wedding!"
