Azura's Punishment.

"As for you, Azura Everd, for not reporting the issue and for fighting in school, you will also be punished."

"Wait, what, punish? I was only defending myself." Azura blurted out. Were they expecting him to just stand there without defending himself or what? he wondered. He was obviously angry and not pleased with the judgement. so much for being fair. he thought.

seeing the way the whole situation was going, Mr Green spoke for the first time, since the start of the meeting.

"As punishment, Azura, you'll be assisting me after school hours for the next month."

Azura wanted to object, but seeing the look on Mr Greens face, he swallowed hard and said nothing.

"You both can leave."Mr Green instructed. stepping out of the office, Azura was very angry. Now, he was being punished for protecting himself. He wanted to punch someone. his stomach made a loud noise. instinctively, he placed his right hand on top of his stomach.

"S.h.i.t." he cursed out angrily. If it weren't for that Nathan, perhaps he could have gotten some leftover food to eat, now he would starve till God knows when.

Nathan, on the other hand, said nothing. No one saw him for the rest of the school day after he left Mr Green office.

After school hour, Azura made his way back to Mr Greens' office. [knock. Knock] he gently knocked on the office door.

After waiting for some seconds, he knocked again. He still didn't hear any response, azura then opened the door and walked in. on the top of the table was a sheet of paper with a text boldly written on it. "Gone to the sport arena, meet me there."

seeing the note, azura made his way for the sports arena. by the time he got there, the basketball team was already training .he stood at a corner watching the team.

Mr Green saw him and signalled him to come over, azura was expecting Mr Green to give him a series of work to do as punishment , but when he made his way to where Mr Green was, he handed azura a food flask. " Here you go, eat, and we'll talk later when I'm done." With that, he left azura as he went ahead, yelling out different instructions to the team players.

Azura was surprised. After taking a seat, he sat down and opened up the flask. the food inside was home cooked, seeing this he was grateful to Mr Green, the aroma was nice, he hadn't had something like this for a long while, this brought tears to his eyes.

Even though he was hungry, he couldn't help but think of Leyla, his sister. He wondered if she had eaten, he couldn't eat something as nice as this, when she was starving. he took a long look at the food inside the flask before covering it.

he patiently waited for Mr Green. about an hour later, the training came to an end. Mr Green returned to take a seat beside Azura.

I see you haven't touched the food. Are you not hungry? he asked azura. Hnm, I I am, but I can't eat something as nice as this when my sister is probably starving at home, I was thinking I can bring it back home, so we both can eat together, that's i-ff if you would let me.

hearing his reason for not eating, Mr. Green smiled, of course you can take it home, I believe it's enough to satisfy three people. azura was surprised to see Mr Green smiled, He had only seen the constant expressionless look on his face and nothing more.

"Thank you, Sir." azura said. waving him off, Mr Green replied, "It's nothing. Well, I'm glad you stood up for yourself today. The only way to stop a bully from bullying you is by standing up to them. I believe that Nathan kid won't bother you in the future."

hearing this, azura had a confused look on his face, "I I thought I'm being punished for defending myself." Shaking his head, Mr Green replied, "to be honest, I have no intention of punishing you, if anything I'm impressed by what you did, though the disciplinary committee might think otherwise so it's best whatever happens here stays between us. deal?"

Azura was surprised. He shook his head in affirmation to Mr Greens' proposal. "Good. I don't want to keep you for long now, you can go, don't forget to come back same time tomorrow."

azura stood up, bowed slightly, and took his leave. he wanted to go home as soon as possible, so he could eat with his sister, but he also needed to get certified as an exceptional before tomorrow, so he decided to pass by the Exceptional Testing facility.

not having any means of transporting, azura held the food flask firmly, then he began to run, running towards the testing facility.

After running for 45 minutes, he arrived at his location. the testing facility was on the top floor of a five storey building. entering into the building, he headed for the lift while holding the flask in his hand.

he entered into the facility and made his way towards the lady on the front desk. She had a name tag "abigal" written boldly in front of her desk.

"Good day, Ma,am Abigail," azura said with the best smile he could come up with. "Please, I'm here for the exceptional test."

raising her head from the screen in front of her desk, she looked at azura, seeing his old uniform and how skinny azura was looking, with his torn school bag, she had a look of disdain.

" Here, fill up this form and submit it to me when you're done." azura happily collected the form from her, not minding the look on her face. If anything, he was used to people giving him looks like this. Moreover, he knew the cold treatment he was used to getting from people won't stick around for long anyway.

he sat down in the sitting area and began filling his information on the form she had handed him, among the information he filled was his date of birth, name, address and the number of times he had undergone the test. he could also see there was a fixed fee of $50 dollars if he was trying out the test after the 3rd attempt.

luckily for him, this was his second trial, so he wasn't required to pay any money. It wasn't as if he had any money in the first place.

After filling in the form, he submitted it back to her, she collected it and replied, "Go take a seat in the waiting area, when you hear your name, walk straight ahead, and make a turn to your right, enter the room with the number five written on the door." her gaze never left the screen.

Azura did as instructed. He made his way back to the waiting area. There, he sat for twenty minutes before he heard his name. "Azura Everd, please report to the testing hall."
