A father’s request

After hearing about Oliver, I was just thinking about how I would control the irresistible urge to know everything about him when I get home. I have a feeling that He will lead the dark project to a new level.

Lara nodded and Gilbert replied ok, so I also agreed to visit him.

After we all get agreed Trivut decided to go to the hospital in the afternoon when Harold will get discharged.

After deciding when to visit him she asked Gilbert "Did you see Draies?"

He replied, "No, I didn't see him since the day we left the hospital".

After listening to his reply Lara said "He is currently at the Pope mansion right now, he went there to visit his ill father".

We all get surprised that Draies went to visit his family cause we all know how he hates his family's regulations.

After listening to her words, I asked her "How did you know that?"

She replied "He lives right beside my house so when he was leaving for his father's house, I saw him that's when he told me that his father is seriously ill right now, he could die anytime that's why he is going to pay him a last visit.

I didn't ask her anything after that but Quinella asked her a question.

She asked her "Who is the father of Draies?"

Actually, I also don't remember hearing his father's name once so I was also kinda curious.

Lara was going to answer the question but that's when Gilbert said: "Francis Pope the current head priest of Holy Lumenia church is the father of Draies".

I knew that Draies's father is a wealthy and powerful individual but I didn't know that he is the head of the most powerful organization in the Kingdom.

The Holy Lumenia Church controls the kingdom. Without their agreement, no one can ascend the throne.

So, the members of the royal family try to maintain a good relationship with them. Almost every subject of the kingdom believes in Goddess Lumenia so they have more power than the Rose family.

I can't believe that our party's healer is the son of such an individual. After hearing it I became a little upset cause if he is the head priest's son, I might have to face him someday due to my dark Isekai Project.

So, if he still doesn't want to return to his family then we don't have to fight.

On the other side, Draies is now in his room in the Pope mansion thinking about how to face his father.

He arrived at the mansion 2 days ago but still, he didn't get the appointment to meet his father.

Francis Pope doesn't see anyone without an appointment even his family members can't see him without an appointment but there is an exception,

First, he ordered his son to seat down before him. So, as his father ordered he sat down in front of him and hold his hand, and said "How are you feeling, Dad?"

He didn't look at him and said "I am fine just waiting for my death".

After listening to it Draies shouted at him and said: "Don't say something ominous like that, you still have a long life ahead of you so please don't give up on your life that easy".

His father smiled after listening to his words and said: "Don't be a fool; there is no way that I will live longer than this I am already 110 years old and I have lived a good life so I don't mind even if it ends here".

Draies couldn't hold his tears anymore and burst into crying. When his father notices his tears he also couldn't hold his tears so some tears were falling from his eyes.

But when Draies hold his head up and looked at him he wiped his tears and looked away.

There was a sad and silent atmosphere there for some time. After some time Francis opened his mouth and said "I want you to take a decision Draies".

Draies wasn't stunned to listen to this cause he knew that his father will never call him into the mansion to just see him one last time. So he was prepared for it.

His father holds his hand and said "Look Draies I will not force you to come back to the family but I want you to understand that if you don't come back before my death you will never be able to enter the mansion again and the most important thing is that if you don't return we will lose our position in the church"

Draies was a little bit shocked to hear his last words cause according to him there is no reason for the father to worry about the Pope family's position cause his younger brother Fred El Pope works in the church so even if he doesn't return to the family Fred should be able to uphold the family's position.

So he asked his father "Why are you so worried about our family's position we have Fred there, he should be able to maintain our position there?"

His face was full of disappointment after hearing his words. After exhaling a deep breath he said

"This is a matter of sorrow but Fred wouldn't be able to protect our position cause he is currently a high priest and according to the chain of command after my death,

my disciple Yang Azu will become the Head priest from Archpriest,

So we will lose our position and power due to the power shift to another family".

After hearing it I become a little worried cause if we lose our position then the other powerful family will target us and will try to finish us for good, I can't let that happen but what can I do in this situation?

When he was thinking about it his father tried to get up from the bed, Draies didn't notice that so he fell to the ground.

Draies quickly hold him and help him to sit on a chair. After sitting on a chair he looked at Draies with a serious look in his eyes and said "There is a way for you to save our family".

Draies didn't have any choice so he listened to his father's words.

His father told him that "If he returns to the family he will use his power and will make him a high priest and will send him on an important mission and if he can accomplish the mission then he will appoint him as an Archpriest and there are a lot of supporters of Pope family so after his death he will become the next Head priest".

After listening to his words he gave it a thought and agreed to return to the family but he wanted his father to answer his one question before he joins the church.

His father put a smile on his face and said "What is it, my son?"

He crossed his hands and asked, "Why didn't you just send Fred on the mission and make him the next head priest?"

After listening to his question he also crossed his hand and replied "He would die if I send him on a mission". (To be continued)
