The world dwindles

The city I once knew was in shambles, a fragment of what it once was. Everything was normal for the longest time and it felt as if life was always going to be the same but it wasn't even close.

"You are only just seeing the beginning of the end." Kallista says with a dark tone in her voice.

It truly was the beginning of the end, no one could argue that. We were struggling to survive against mobs, bosses, and even other people who wanted to gain more power.

The Monarch corrupted everything we knew and made it worse than it could ever be.

"Hopefully we can prevent the end of the world. It may not be filled with the best people but I don't want to give up that hope." I reply while taking a seat on some ruble.

I've watched a lot of people come and go but it's a completely different story to watch as the world dies from these catastrophic events.

"You just might be crazy Sevy, yet I'm happy to be by your side." Rika says while taking a seat next to me.

If you're sane in this world, I have a lot of questions for you.

"We've all come a long way since the beginning of the apocalypse, but we can still grow even further. Another opportunity awaits for those who are willing to make the sacrifices necessary." The Monarchs voice begins to echo off the buildings.

"The Rise of Heroes event is now live. Everything will be detailed in the fine print of your quests in the proper window. I want to say that this is the best chance you have to achieve a status greater than a lowly adventurer." The Monarch continues to talk.

I really so hate that damn thing, he just talks and talks about what he thinks people want but it's nowhere near the truth for everyone. I believe a lot of people are interested but it's not appealing to everyone involved.

"I hate the monarchs voice." Kallista mentions while standing with her arms crossed.

∆You must Complete the SSS Tier dungeons placed across the city, hunt down bounties placed on other users who committed crimes, and you must stop a boss before it evolves to a gate level boss.

∆ Tougher dungeons have been placed within different parts of the city for Rank progression!

~Why how lovely is it for us to get such an upgrade.

The U.I was completely different from before and had a lot more options now.

~Allow me to give a brieft idea of what we got Sevarian.

•Better display for health, mana, and even stamina. (Yes we can track how tired you get now.)

•Updated skills and even added extra to certain trees.

• You've now been given the option to see waypoints for quests if you want them.

~I apologize but I won't be able to tell you the others at this point in time. It seems they are glitching out so we'll just have to wait till it's resolved.

There's still so much I don't understand about these things since it glitches out after getting an upgrade. Why can't the system manager fix it? Wouldn't that be a job of one of these managers?

I probably should ask Elizabeth about some of these things since she use to be a system manager for me.

"That new event doesn't sound very appealing. It sounds like there will be a twist behind it." Kallista says while looking up at the sky.

"An event dedicated to making people rise above, how noble of the monarch." Rika chimes in with a sarcastic tone.

This event is probably being used to make more heroes, maybe even so that they can be used against me.

It wouldn't be the first time he's tried to have this done since he had a hunt event a long while back. A lot of people wanted me dead for the rewards but I managed to find the gate back then.

"Do we even know how many heroes are already in the world?" I ask while looking towards Kallista.

"Not a single clue to be honest with you." Kallista answers with an honest tone behind her voice.

I guess she wouldn't know since she didn't even know the hero that we had help from before. Onyx I believe his name was, I'll never forget what he did for us but I wish he could've made it out alive.

~A new quest has arrived. We must find Rena. Last seen in the 44th district. Rewards will be calculated shortly. Giving a waypoint now.

"We got our next place to go, mine as well play along." I say while looking around the surroundings for this waypoint.

That's when I noticed a giant blue waypoint in the sky, that's definitely the way I need to go but wow I'm surprised that I actually get one of these. This system shit is on a whole different level compared to what I'd expect magic to be like.

"We should probably avoid the dungeons for now." Rika suggests while we begin to walk.

"Yeah I agree." I respond while continuing onward.

Dungeons will be crawling with users if not greedy bandits looking to kill those people.

My mind is focused on finding this Rena person, whatever their purpose may be.
