Chapter 22 What Are You After Then?

Tomas came to a stark realisation. He glanced at Darwin who was furious and quickly went over to open the door.

Nicole was standing by the door with her head down. Her thin shoulders trembled as if she was crying.

"Ms. Francis... I mean, Mrs. Hayden, what are you doing here?" Tomas forced an awkward smile on his usually serious face.

Nicole ignored him and looked up at Darwin with teary eyes.

When Darwin saw her like this, he felt conflicted.

"You should go now." Darwin waved Tomas off.

Tomas was relieved by this and quickly left with his briefcase in his arms.

Darwin walked over to Nicole, looked down at the mess on the ground, and his eyes narrowed. "Did you hear everything?"

Nicole clenched her fists and sobbed, "Why are you doing this to me?"

"I'm really sorry." Darwin lowered his gaze.

His apology made Nicole even sadder. She sat on the floor and burst into tears.
