Magic Theory

Currently in the classroom, Kento was teaching the students of Class D.

The students had seven subjects in total, Drach Science, Magic Theory, Tactics, Physical Combat, Business, Potion Class and Forgery. The last two were optional.

Staria was the only one that took Potion class with Zina, her teacher. Zane, Luz and Serena took Forgery class. The others only took the five other compulsory subjects.

On this particular day, after explaining how Spells are formed from a person, Kento had given them a project on Combination Spells.

"In groups of three or more, you will have to form your own unique Spells using a combination of each other's Casting Trait. You have until next week monday to submit them." Kento told them as the bell rang and the Class began to pack their stuff and some discussed among themselves. Since today was friday and this being the last period of classes, they had two days to finish their assignment.

"How 'bout the three of us?" Kasami suggested to Vanessa and Zane.

"Cool. I already have a vision of what our combined Spell would look like." In the end, the three of them agreed to partner up with each other.

Usually, the Combination Spell Project would only consist of two partners but since Class D was only fifteen in number instead of the usual twenty in the other classes.

"This time, it might not be smart if we work together." Serena pointed out to her two best friends.

"Yeah, our traits don't really compliment each other that well." Arina agreed with the Mech Caster.

"Do you guys mind if we join you?" Yuri asked as he and Kuro walked towards the trio of girls.

"Is that even allowed?" Arina asked.

"He did say three or more." Kuro replied.

"I'm not sure if all of our traits will suit each other." Serena complained.

"On the contrary, I already have an idea." Luz spoke up and the four of them were keen on listening.

"I can't really explain it right now, how 'bout we meet at the field tomorrow." The Picture Caster told them and Yuri nodded but the other three were confused.

"Why tomorrow? Why not today?" Serena asked.

"Well it's because..." Luz and Yuri spoke at the same time with their hands on the back of their neck as if they were embarrassed.

"We just have to." They said.

"Whatever." They agreed for it to be tomorrow.

The next morning.

Luz was fast asleep in her bed and her roommate, Yuli (if you don't remember her, go back to chapter 46) didn't bother waking her up since it was saturday even though it was already 10 in the morning.

The Picture caster was wearing a blue shirt that showed a picture of spikes raining down from the sky.

Suddenly, a girl walked into the room and straight to Luz' bed.

"Wake up, sleepyhead. We have to complete the Combination Spell Project." Serena told her as she shook her but not in a fast way as she was only trying to wake her up.

"I thought I told you five minutes." Luz said, half asleep as her eyes were still closed.

"That was Arina and unlike her, I'm not gonna listen." Serena said as she tried to grab the Picture Caster from the bed.

From outside the room, Arina couldn't help but laugh and so did her roommate who was by the door as well.

"I don't think we've met before. Are you friends with Luz?" Yuli asked her.

"Yes, I'm her best friend. I'm Arina Uzukire." Arina introduced herself.

"Yuli Yamada." Yuli introduced herself as well.

Arina remembered hearing that name from somewhere before.

"Oh, that's right. The Yamada Family. They're a Family that trains Casters and Humans in hand to hand combat. They've developed a special technique that makes Spells and normally attacks stronger with their vast knowledge of the human body." Arina remembered hearing about them while they were in the Krueger Base.

"Just get up, Luz." Serena dragged her hand.

"I'm tired."

"Why?" Serena's words made Luz think back to what Yuri and her had to do yesterday and she blushed.

"Okay, I'll get up." Luz finally got up.

After a while, Arina, Yuri, Serena, Kuro and Luz met up on the field.

"Okay, look." Luz placed a book on a stand and then when she tapped it, the imaged on it began to widen like a hologram until it was big enough for everyone to see.

"In this Manga I read, the five demi-gods of Olympia were facing off against one of Hades' God-level creatures." As she said these words, she used her hands to flip to another page.

"The Creature was fast and powerful and nothing was working until Geros, the metal demi-god created a whip made out of the strongest metal in the entire world."

"He used it to grab a hold of the Creature and tied the whip around him but the creature began to melt the metal with it's own skin. So Kylin, the demi-god of darkness used a solid shadow to wrap around the whip."

"It stopped the Whip from breaking but the Creature began shrinking to escape the grasp when Thae, Hyl and Ryo, the ice, smoke and light demi-gods stepped in."

"They began to coat the whip in their own powers and the energy in it weakened and prevented the creature from escaping but it wasn't defeated yet. So they all pulled on the whip and added their energy into it and it became so powerful that it caused the Creature to explode." Luz' hologram faded as she finished her explanation.

"Okay, I get it. I can create a metal whip and Arina, Yuri, Kuro and you can coat your magic around it. Since there's so many magic traits stacked on top of each other, it can cause a body system to overload and explode due to the lack of stability." Serena said and Luz nodded.

"But doesn't it require constant fueling with energy since the magic will fade if not. That would require a lot of magic, right?" Kuro contemplated.

"And if not done right, it can explode right in our faces." Arina added.

"But it's a great idea and the only one we have so we're going to have to master it." Yuri said and the four of them agreed.

"Why didn't Ayato come with you guys?" Luz asked since the three were normally always with each other.

"He has an extreme fever and had to go home." Kuro told them.

"Let's get to practicing." Yuri said.

The next week, Kento and the students were outside on the field.

Kento had a dummy made of a powerful metal which they would test out their Combination Spells on and if it was a defense Spell that had been created, he had a dummy that could fight back.

Arina's team went first and they executed the Spell which they had practised numerous times.

"Ha!" Using her Basic Spell, Serena created a large and thick whip made of metal and it tied around the dummy tightly.

The other four stood next to her closely and began to add their own magic to it and it was now coated in an aura of shadows, light, colors and ice.

"Ha!" Fueling it with their energy, the dummy exploded.

"Excellent job, you guys pass." Kento told them.

The five of them stood in a circle together and gave each other a fist bump.

"Pound it."
