The day after the incident arrived and during this day, the First Years would go through training to become fit and healthy like the soldiers of the Krueger Family.
They were currently in the Training Hall. The Hall was large and wide. There seemed to be circular white lines drawn on the floor which were the bounds two fighters would brawl in. There also seemed to be a statue of one of the former Leaders of the Krueger Family.
There were some Drach Weapons on table set at the edges of the hall. If one got close to them and looked at their Power Watch, the Drach weapons ranged from Stage 1-Stage 6.
They all stood in lines based on the team they were in and their Sergeant stood in front of them.
His name was Nikk. He had spiky blue hair that was barely visible under the orange helmet when he put it on. He had a broad chest and was big, reaching 6 foot 5.
On his waist was a great blue axe strapped on his waist. The blades were a pure silver color with multiple spikes on each side. The handle was dark blue and the whole axe itself was vibrating every two seconds, giving off a purple color.
"Listen up. Today, we will be improving your physical strength, speed, agility and dexterity." He spoke with a deep voice that resounded.
"As Casters, naturally you have magic to help you but you can't always rely on it.."
As Nikk was talking, a First Year boy chuckled a bit and suddenly the hall went silent.
Nikk turned towards the First Year who had chuckled.
"What? You think this is funny," Nikk asked with a calm face which scared them a bit, "How 'bout we spar?"
"Sorry sir. I can tell you're at Stage 10. Surely someone like me couldn't match up to you." Max, the First Year answered.
"How 'bout this? You'll fight me with your Casting and I won't even use mine. Plus..." Nikk signalled one of the soldiers with his hand and the soldier gave the Sergeant a Stage 6 Green Sword.
"You can use this." Nikk threw it towards him and Max caught it.
The students were having mixed feelings and were mostly confused by their Sergeant's actions.
"Isn't the point of this to teach Max a lesson? Then why handi-cap yourself?"
"It doesn't make any sense."
"Unless he can.."
The First Years thought as they took a few steps back after Max had accepted with a confident smile on his face.
"Begin." A soldier said as he striked down his left hand.
Max dashed towards Nikk with the intention to give him a light stab on the chest. The Sergeant was wearing armor so it wouldn't actually hurt him. It was just the way of declaring victory during combat training and still qualified here.
When Max got close enough, he plainly threw out the sword towards Nikk, aiming towards his chest but..
*Whack
Max's head hit the floor before he knew it but the First Years had seen what happened but barely.
As Max got close enough and attempted to hit the Sergeant, Nikk had just stepped to the side quickly but quietly and then had let Max fall on the floor.
"I'll give you another try." Nikk asked with a slight smile on his face and Max tried again.
After trying about ten times, the same result occured.
Max got up and bowed.
"Please teach me." He said and the other First Years followed, surprised by how good their Sergeant was.
"Good. Please select a weapon to choose from the Item Table. We'll start with improving your abilty to adapt to situations." Nikk told them.
"Yes, sir." They answered in unison.
'Demons were said to be the greatest at hand to hand combat. Although that might not be entirely true.." Yuri thought as he remembered how good Arina was at physical fighting. She knew the right time to dodge, block or counter. She might actually be the best out of all the First Years in terms of hand to hand combat.
"I should be able to do something." Yuri picked up a golden and white bow and a quiver full of arrows.
Meanwhile, Arina hadn't really found any weapons that appealed to her. Swords, axes, bows and spears weren't really her style. She would have liked maybe a dagger but she couldn't find any one long enough that matched her.
"Well this is adapting to situations." Arina picked up a spear which she used to practice.
After a few swings and practicing with someone, she finally came to a conclusion.
"Yeah, I'm no good at this." She said after sparring with Cris yet again who wielded a sword. After she said those words, she gave a smile that Cris couldn't help but find beautiful and enchanting.
Cris felt his heartbeat slowly increase as Arina turned towards him after choosing a different weapon.
"Let's go again but with a shield." Arina pointed at the brown shield she had picked.
"Oh.. yeah." Cris snapped out of his daze.
