Chapter Three Hundred and Sixty-One

Third Person POV

Rose is still mad at George for not contacting her when the whole issue started but she has to put her anger aside and focus on how to tackle the issue on the ground, she is aware that if those two eventually collaborate it will be a nightmare for her and them. She knows that she has all that is needed to defeat them but she is not forgetting that she is dealing with two smart and crooked human beings, more reason she has to be careful while dealing with them. Bugging Steve's phone is out of the question but the question that begs an answer is, how are they going to get to Anna's phone. Rose has been thinking a lot of things but none of them satisfied her, Steve has not met with Anna yet.

Rose was still cracking her brain when she got a notification, she checked what is all about and saw that it is a message from her team informing her that Steve is in a cafe that Anna visit always and Anna just walked in. Rose started typing immediately to reply to the message.

*Go inside there and sat within earshot with that special earpiece, it will help to get what they are saying at least.*

Rose called George to tell him the latest update, and the latter told her that his team have already informed him about it. Rose is impressed by what she heard, which assured her that George did not just fold his hands doing nothing. Rose put on the earpiece that will enable her to listen to the conversation as well. Rose was shocked when she heard Anna turned Steve's offer down, I can't believe that she turned him down, she mused. After the conversation, Rose removed the earpiece and sat down there staring at a particular spot. Right there a lot is going on in her mind, does this mean that Anna really changed or she is just pretending to be changed but turning down such a golden opportunity is something she can't wrap her head around it. Rose knows that at the moment Anna doesn't have the financial muscle to pull down George and she will need somebody like Steve to support her financially.

If she is pretending, then what kind of sick game is she playing now? That is a question Rose is asking herself over and over again. Right now Anna is proving difficult to understand and that is dangerous cause somebody like that can be after your life but you don't know from which direction she is coming from. Rose called George again to tell him what the conversation is all about since his team don't have access to that. George picked up the call on the first ring cause he has been anticipating the call since the last time Rose called. You won't believe what am about to tell you, Anna turned down Steve's proposal for them to join hands together to destroy you, and Rose told George as soon as he accepted the call. What! Are you serious Aunty? You are not joking, right? George asked her to be sure that what he heard is correct. You heard me very well, am serious she turned him down, Rose assured George that he heard her correctly.

Aunty, could it be that Anna changed? George asked hoping the answer will be something favourable. I don't know George, it could be true, but it can also not be true cause am not ruling out the possibility of her pretending to have changed so that we will let our guard down, I will advise you not to look down on that woman, to me she is more deadly than Steve, Rose advice him and gave him her honest opinion. I have heard you Aunty and I will keep that in mind, now we have to monitor Steve though that Anna turned him down, I don't think he will give up that easily, George said. I know that but you and I know that your uncle will not be able to do anything without a partner, that is why he is hell-bent on getting a partner, especially someone that holds a grudge against you and Anna is the perfect candidate, Rose told him. George heard all that Rose said and realised what a fool he was by not calling Rose earlier, thinking that he can handle that.

Aunty is sorry for not calling you earlier and also thank you for coming to my rescue all the time, George showed his appreciation. That's okay dear just don't do that again cause everyone has a field they specialised on and this is my field, you should let me do what I know how to do best, Rose told him. They ended the call after Rose advised him on how his security team will have to follow Anna and Steve without being detected. George can't believe how his uncle is so desperate to bring them down, he tried to remember how they offended him and that he is this mad at them. He has given it a lot of thought but he did not come up with anything, rather it was Steve who has been messing up he and his mother decided to turn a blind eye to all that he is doing but he seems not to be satisfied one bit. But now he is not going to turn blind eye to him again, he is ready to fight anybody that tries to harm his loved ones.

Rose pulled out the file she has been working on Anna, there is nothing much she have gathered about her, especially her health history, she tried to pull out information from her data with their family doctor but there is nothing useful there apart from some issues with her womb which explains why they are yet to have any children. Nothing talked about any mental illness or she is hiding that from the family doctor as well. Rose strongly believes that Anna is playing mind games with them cause nobody on earth will be able to convince her that she has changed. Rose resolved to tighten the security whether George liked it or not cause she want Anna to crack when she notice that they are not doing what she expected of them.
