Akira's POV
Later, after dinner, while Toshi-san and Riho are washing the dishes, I was in my room with Hachi. I was reading one of my favorite novels while Hachi was laying down on the mattress looking at the ceiling. Then, suddenly, my phone. When I picked it up, it was Mom.
"Let me guess, she knew that me and Hachi-kun didn't went home after school," I thought.
So, I answered the call, "Hello? Mom?"
"Akira, thank goodness you answered," Kae said to me.
"Okay, why? Did you know that me and Hachi-kun didn't came home?"
"Yes, and me and your father don't know where you two are."
"Um, we're in Tokyo currently."
This shocks mom a lot. "What? How? Did you two take a train or something?"
"It's because Hachi-kun was tracked down by a detective agency."
"How? We didn't sign any adoption papers."
"Well, mom, it seems that a detective got a tip by some bad guys that Hachi was in Okutama."
"A detective?"
"Yes, and we're currently staying at his place for the night with Riho-chan."
"Okay, why?"
"Tomorrow, we and the police will catch the ones who reported Hachi as missing."
"I see, make sure you and your friends return before Monday. You kids had school, okay?"
"Okay, mom, I promised."
"By the way, can I talk to that detective for a bit? Is he home?"
"Yes, he is. Wait."
I then left the room and went downstairs to give the phone to Toshi so he could talk to my mom.
When I arrived there, I saw that they are now done washing the dishes so I just handed my phone to Toshi. "My mom wants to talk to you."
"Oh, really?" Toshi replied as he accepts it. "Okay then."
He then placed it near his right ear and began to talk to Kae.
I then went to the living room, where Riho was watching TV.
"Did your mom called you or something?" she asked me.
"Yes," I replied back as I sat on the sofa next to her. "Apparently, she knew we didn't come home."
"Oh, I see then."
I then looked at the TV. It was a comedy show that was currently airing at this hour.
We were laughing so hard, but not too loud or else we would disturb the neighbors.
This ended when Toshi came to us and give back my phone to me. "I just assured your parents that I'll take care of you until those bad guys are arrested."
Having my phone back, I responded with some gratitude, "Thank you so much."
At this point, I thought, "He'll never know that I am a genius."
Later, a 10:34 p.m., I was in my room with Hachi with the lights off so we could sleep. Toshi gave us some clothes to change until tomorrow. Riho was at the other room. I was laying on the bed thinking while looking at the ceiling.
"Hey, Akira-kun..." Hachi said to me.
"Yes?" I looked at him. "Because of me being an experiment, I really had trust issues with other people other than you, your family, Riho-chan, and Toshi-san and his agency."
"Oh, that's why?"
"Yes, and I'm sorry if I made you my source of blood."
"Come on, don't apologize like that. I'm willing to sacrifice than to do nothing at all, even it means sacrificing my blood."
"Okay then..." I saw that Hachi was weirded out by my saying, but he continued on, "...thanks, I guess."
He then turned to his right side and started to sleep. I then turned to my left and slept as well.
The next morning, we ate breakfast, dressed up, and went to Toshi's detective agency to do the operation as planned. Before we left the house, Toshi contacted the people who reported Hachi as missing so he would tell them to go down to the agency to pick up Hachi, who was handcuffed as a trap for them. Upon arriving at the agency, Hachi was told to sit down at the lobby to trap those two people. The police are hiding at some rooms in the first floor as instructed by Masashi so they would launch a surprise arrest on those two people. They were called by the agency an hour before. Me, Riho, and Toshi-san pretend to turn Hachi to them.
Then, at 8:44 a.m., two men came to the agency to pick up Hachi.
"Yes, this is him," Toshi said to them.
With that, one of the two men looked at Hachi nicely. "You shouldn't have run away. We were worried about you."
I was angry on the inside, but I had to stay cool and calm at this situation.
I know that they pretend to act nice at him.
But, before those men would get their hands on Hachi, the police came in and apprehended the two men while addressing their arrest warrant on them. The two men were disoriented and surprised by it, demanding an explanation of their arrest. Then, Masashi came in and exposed to them their false report about Hachi going missing.
"How did you know that?" one of men asked.
"Well," Toshi said to him, "this kid says so."
He then referred it to me.
I then came forward with a serious look on my face. "Your corporation threw him out as a failed experiment, and now you wanted him back? That was unacceptable."
The two men, who were now handcuffed, are angry that I figured out their deception.
"You little..."
"How dare you!"
I then chuckled a bit. "I know that in movies you know."
I looked at Masashi and Toshi, who were a bit amazed by my line.
Shortly thereafter, as the two men were being led to a police car by the police, Masashi and Toshi thanked me for helping them uncovering a deception.
"Yeah, you're welcome," I happily said to them.
Hachi was relieved of his handcuffs.
Riho then sided with me. "Yup, he's smart."
To that I thought, "Nevermind! Reveal it!"
So, I said to them, "I am smart. Not gonna brag, but I'm kinda smart."
Toshi then noticed that and responded, "Yeah, you just solved that as if it was nothing, like that time you and your friends lied about not seeing Hachi-kun."
Masashi was surprised to hear that. "Wow, you outsmarted one of our senior detectives with a simple lie."
"Yeah, I did."
"He did that for me," Hachi said to them.
At this point, I felt a lot of sparks of inspiration from Toshi and his detective agency, and in my heart and mind, I wanted to be like them.
After that, me, Hachi, and Riho decided to stay in Tokyo for the whole day to celebrate our problem getting solved. Toshi was surprised that we wanted to stay, but quickly allows that as a celebration for the deception getting thwarted. We went around Tokyo and the surrounding cities in Toshi's car going around, eat out, and shopping for souvenirs for our families back at Okutama. It was Saturday, but me and my friends had homework to do, so we need to go back before Sunday so we could do it at home. So, by 3:11 p.m., at a train station in Tokyo, in our school uniforms and holding our school bags and shopping bags, we said goodbye to Toshi before the train doors closed, and the train started to depart for Okutama. But these things had left me a lot of inspiration for my revenge and justice for Hashi.
