CHAPTER ELEVEN (BROKEN FRAGMENT?)

It's been three weeks since my spar with Draxus. My monotonous school life continued. I reached level 29 two days ago and received a message that I could not level up any further from the current prisoners in the mansion. The end of the month is already here, so I began to pack my stuff in preparation for returning home.

The elf came again today, claiming that she wanted to train with Emma. But I could tell she kept glancing at me. Does she have a crush on me, or what? I could've sworn I saw tears in her eyes after I told her we were going home today. What's going on with this girl?

After packing up our things, we headed to the portal room. There, we were asked a few questions by the guards before being allowed to use the portal. Finally, we stood before the shimmering portal, ready to go home.

Mhmm

As I inhaled the air of my home dimension, I couldn't help but notice how different it was from the beautiful, opulent realm I'd just left. I began to wonder why on earth I'd chosen to return. After a short teleportation spell, we arrived at a secret building on the grounds of my old school. Before leaving, I decided to pay a visit to the principal. We chatted for a while, and then I headed out only to meet something surprising.

"Sophia!"

Sophia was my sister's best friend—or subordinate, depending on how you looked at it. They always tried to hide it from me, but I always knew my sister wasn't normal. Even now, more than ever, I could feel it. After my sister's death, Sophia went abroad for treatment of a sickness she had—or so she claimed. But I knew it was a lie. All of those things aside, seeing Sophia hiding out in my home put me on high alert.

"D-Damian, why are you here? Aren't you meant to be in school?" Sophia asked.

"Why can't I be here? This is my... my..." My face fell as I asked coldly, "How did you know that?"

Sophia sighed as she began to explain everything about fragments and other stuff. "You and your sister were a broken fragment," she said, "a fragment split into two." My Avatar ability originally belonged to my sister, while I held the ability to steal skills. Because my sister held the more dominant part of the broken fragment, she was able to awaken while I remained dormant.

Sophia was one of my sister's Avatars; she was originally a system user who died before my sister found her.

As an Avatar, Sophia was meant to die along with my sister. But due to her power over souls, she was able to keep herself alive until I awakened and she tethered herself to me. My sister was ambushed by one of the other fragments—a woman in a black suit—who had the power of nine lives. But because my sister was a broken fragment, her ability wasn't stolen; it was transferred to me instead.

I took a deep breath as I tried to process all the information I'd just received. Emma and Sophia looked at me with concerned expressions, while Jenna continued to blow bubbles with an uncaring look.

"That doesn't explain what you're doing here," I said.

Sophia sighed again, then began another story.

"Haha, stupid little girl! Did you think we wouldn't find out what you were doing in the shadows? You're not even the real puppeteer! Call forth your master and let me teach her a lesson!"

"I don't need to involve my master to deal with pests like you." Sophia said, looking disdainfully at the figures of a stoic-faced woman in white and an angry-faced one in a skin-tight suit.

"I won't repeat myself again, little girl. call forth your master so that she may be taught a lesson" the wrathful woman said

" I also have no plans to repeat myself after this. My master's involvement is not needed to deal with pests like you "

The stoic-faced woman in white stepped forward.

"You're making a mistake, child. You're outmatched and outgunned. It would be wise to surrender now."

Sophia scoffed. "Surrender? Ha! You think I would ever surrender to the likes of you? I'm not a fool!" An earth shaking aura is released from her as she says . "You're not taking another step towards me!"

The woman in white raised her hands.

"We don't want to hurt you, child. I just want to ask your master what possible reasons she has for her actions."

" What the hell are you saying?. I thought we came here for some ass kicking." The other woman asks

" Not everyone is a brute like you " the woman in white shakes her head, her expression still not changing. " Now child, call forth your master, I want to speak to her"

" I'm afraid that's impossible" Sophia replies with a serious gaze eliciting a change in expression from the white robed woman and thus an earth shattering battle began

Still sick, it took me a lot of mental strength to write this. Sorry it's short
