Phase 2

(AN: There was a power stone glitch for my novel which made it unable to receive power stones. It has been fixed now)

{Ren POV}

We just make it to the group. Satotz seemed to have already left. Everyone was waiting outside a Gate.

Freya- "Why's everyone waiting here?"

"We can't get in," said Kile as she walked towards us.

Freya- "KIle!"

Kile- "Yo… I see, you actually got here. How'd you manage it?"

Gene- "Well, Ren Saved us by beating Hisoka and lead us here. You had to see the fight, it was epic! Ren one-punched Hisoka and Led us back here."

At this, Kile looked at me with admiration and said, "How did you find us?"

Ren- "It was nothing, you see I can sense the life energy of people. I just had to go towards the place with humans."

"Cool. You have got to teach it to me!!!" said Kile at which I just nodded with a smile.

"Soooo, why can't we get in?" said Freya changing the topic.

"That's why," said Kile while pointing at the gate. The gate had a notice that said the second round was to begin at noon which was a few minutes from now. Rumbling sounds came from behind that door.

Kile- "As for the critter making that racket… it's anybody's guess. Guess we will find out at noon."

The tensions were growing high as noon was approaching. People were starting to ready their weapons to fight whatever was making that noise. Sharp at 12 o'clock, the giant gate creeks open to show a large man (From whose stomach the noises were coming from) and a slender lady who was sitting on a chair in front of him.

"So, you hungry?" asked the lady to which the large guy replied, "Famished."

"Okay applicants listen up! The second phase is cooking!! We're gourmet hunters so you will be cooking. We're game hunters so you will be whipping up DIshes to satisfy our discriminating palates." said the Lady. All the examinees were surprised as this would be the first time they were doing something like this.

Buhara(Large man)- "First you will make a dish for me…"

Menchi(Lady)- "And if Buhara passes you effort, you'll be permitted to make one for me. You will pass the second phase when you have satisfied both of us. Once we have eaten our fill then the testing period will be over."

Leorio- "Geez, I've never cooked."

Kurapika- "Well this is unexpected."

"My dish of choice is whole roast pig!! Can't wait!" said Buhara as he drooled.

At this, Freya and I looked at each other and teleported to a herd of these massive pigs. These were the only pigs in the entire reserve. Normally it would be difficult to kill it if you don't know it's weak spot. We got 2, grilled them with a bit of honey we got from a beehive. Buhara just gobbled it down like It was nothing. The examiners seemed really impressed as the other's had just left and we had already finished the first part of the second phase. "You Pass!" said Buhara devouring the two pigs whole. 70 people soon returned with pigs. They must have figured out the weak spot. Buhara effortlessly devoured all the 70 pigs and ended up passing everyone.

Gene- "Hunters really are amazing!"

Kile- In a way…"

"He ate far more than he could possibly hold." said Kurapika at which Leorio replied, "Don't think too much."

Menchi- "Glutton! You just woffled them all without judging their Quality?!

Buhara- "My stomach was really empty. Either way, we have narrowed it down a fair bit."

Menchi- "You're hopeless. Gourmet hunters should have discerning taste buds. Ah well, so it goes… THE ROAST PIG ROUND IS OVER! SEVENTY APPLICANTS HAVE PASSED THE FIRST ROUND!"

"So for the second part, the dish I want you all to prepare is Sushi!" she said with a smug look.

Most of the examinees had no idea what sushi was. Looking at their confused looks, "These are your stations. You have all the equipment needed to prepare sushi. There is one thing I can tell you, you use fish as the main ingredient in sushi. At this everyone but the Bald guy looked depressed. The bald ninja, on the other hand, was thanking God for this as sushi was a prevalent dish in his nation.

As everyone goes to the river to get fishes, I just create one for me and Freya. It had a perfect balance of flavours. We both work together to skillfully make a few perfect sushi. We plate it and add some soy sauce on the side. We both took it took our dishes to Menchi. She looked extremely surprised as they at least looked perfect. When we gave our sushi, she gobbled them down. She ligid had a foodgasm like the ones in 'Shokugeki no Souma'.

"How did you prepare this!!! Where did you get the fish!" exclaimed Menchi. "It's a secret," I said at which she realized how unprofessional she was being and blushed. "W-Well, you both pass. You would make a great gourmet Hunter."

"Thanks," I said with a smile. 'He's so adorable!!!' thought Menchi.

The rest came back with fishes in about half an hour.

Gene- "where's your fish?"

Freya- "We already presented our dish and we passed."

"WHAT!!!" said Kile and Gene.

"So you know what this sushi is, so can you help us?" asked Kurapika. Just as I was about to reply, "No. They aren't allowed to help anyone in any way. Yo guys have to figure it out by yourselves!" Interrupted Menchi.

It was pretty entertaining seeing the dished things made. The Bald Ninja did make sushi but it was rejected as it wasn't up to Menchi's standards. Seeing the bald ninja, everyone copied him only to be rejected. Soon the second phase ended with Menchi being full and only Freya and I being passed.

Some of the examinees, outraged, attempted to attack Menchi only to be stopped by Buhara before they got themselves Killed. As Menci was reciting a monologue of what it was to be a gourmet hunter, a massive airship with the logo of the hunter association appeared in the air.

Random- "Look up there! It's the judging committee!!". An old man jumped out of the airship, landing on the ground, cracking it. He was the Head of the Exam Commission, Chairman Netero. He walked toward Menchi and enquired, "Did you fail them because after testing their will to challenge the unknown you found that they were lacking?". "No, I got mad when an examinee belittled the task and then they all inadvertently found out how to make the dish… I got really upset and lost my appetite," said Menchi a bit embarrassed. Netero further questioned, "Did this inhibit your ability to make a sober judgement?". "Well… I admit I get very emotional about food and so I've failed as an examiner. I'll resign my post and withdraw my decision." decided Menchi. Chairman Netero thought for a while and said, "Hmmm… To continue the present test would compromise the results. Instead, I'd like you to stay on as examiner. However, you will participate in the new test to set an example for these examinees. How does that sound?" Suggested Netero. At this, Menchi's Face lit up, "Sure!".
