Chapter 1- Captive

Southern Part of Russia, Year 20XX

A black car stopped in an abandoned house deep in the mountain. The rundown house is known as a haunted house, so people try to avoid it.

They said somebody heard a woman's voice echoing in the forest through other neighbouring houses, especially in the middle of the night. But because the home is fully gated, they cannot see what is inside.

People are shocked to see an expensive car stopping to check the property and wonder if they were here to purchase the land. It would be a relief if someone could demolish the house and create a new one instead.

Unbeknownst to the minor citizen of this town, there is an underground basement in this house. Inside, a single bed is placed in the corner of the room to accommodate a woman. On the bed, a tattered pillow and soiled thick blanket are her only comfort against the cold. The living quarter is a little small; aside from the bed, there is a small toilet connected to it. The room itself smells like rotten flesh since air cannot circulate appropriately without ventilation. This place's only entrance or exit is the single door, with a single thick lock attached from the outside. Obviously, it is to prevent someone from escaping.

On the far corner, Vera, locked in this basement for how long, doesn't care about her living condition. She is currently trying to even out her breathing. After bending her arm to see her injuries, she curses after realizing it is far worse than expected.

Two nights ago, she had her scheduled torture. For what reason, she still doesn't know. The people who abducted her seem to want to see her surrender and fall to her knees. It will be understandable, considering her background. However, they seem to be unaware of her. She suspected they were an amateur group, but keeping in mind their mastery to lock her here, she doubted their real intention.

A sudden sharp pain in her arm caused Vera to refocus on nursing her wounds again. It is hard, but she is used to it. It has been so many nights, days and years that she hasn't seen the light outside.

Vera knows that she is far from Country A. This place is freezing the whole year, which is opposite to the climate she enjoyed in her country.

In her home country, it is hot all year with a bit of rain at mid-year. God, she misses the heat. But now, she wants to leave this place and kill all the people who made her suffer these past years.

Before her abduction, she was the epitome of wealth, beauty and power. Everyone envies and fears her. After all, she commands the largest underground in Country A. However, she was caught and locked up in this basement due to her single mistake. Now, she doesn't even know if she can leave this place alive.

Because of her body condition, it will be difficult for her to fight against this group in hand-to-hand combat. So, she must find a way to escape without fighting all the guards; she needs the right time and the perfect opportunity to do it.

She already has her plan, and all she needs to do is wait. So, she closed her eyes again, tried to meditate, and ensured that she gathered and saved her energy to execute her plan well.
