Chapter 64- Captain Liu's sacrifices

After the meeting, captain Liu left the room an apparent hesitation in his face. He wanted to have a word with Jia; however, since he is not in the right place to have a casual conversation with her, he decided to postpone it later.

The remaining people inside remained awkward that Jia wants to follow the captains back. However, she was startled by the person's action next to her.

An elbow touches her side, and she turns her head to see the tough looking man next to her grin mischievously followed by others who started to crowd her as well. At first, she thought that all of the leaders here are grumpy with robotic expressions, but seeing their grin and friendly approach, her assumption was definitely wrong.

"Hey, I heard that you are the commander's wife, is that right?" The man next to her asked.

Jia nodded in confirmation, and everyone gets even closer. Now she feels more awkward.

"Wow!, the only woman on the team exclaimed.

"I thought commander Xu Long Wei was gay. I never thought that he actually has a wife. I am happy for you girl." She said, followed by a tap on her shoulder. Jia looked around the faces of all the Trainer around her and sighed from relief.

She thought that it would take ample time to get their approval and accept her addition to their group, but based on their warm welcome, she worried for nothing. Jia smile and greeted everyone formally.

They went out afterwards and Leader Four, which was the only woman in the group, decided to tour Jia around the place. When she heard her name, Jia was curious asked, "How come all the platoon leader's names are numbered?"

"Well, commander Xu couldn't memorize our names and always forget how to call us, so, it was agreed that by using a number would help the situation." Four explain.

"ahh, I see" Jia smiled." Hopefully, I won't be numbered like you guys," she added to tease the woman.

"Hahahah, you are a crazy woman, aren't you? You know how I hate this name?" She leaned closer to her and whispered quietly so no one would hear her next word. "But I still have to keep it because of your scary man." Four was not offended and cheekily elbow Jia afterwards. They talk casually while walking around the camp.

Jia was introduced to all the soldiers in the camp, and she spent her time familiarizing her schedule, as well as, the appointed platoon under her command.

From the list she receives today, 34 soldiers will be under her jurisdiction. Her task is to train them for their upcoming battle and tactical test. From the looks of it, however, the people she has gotten are the weakest among the others. She suddenly wonders if this is intentional and Xu Long Wei is up to something.

But since she is an expert in this field of rigorous training, she confidently accepts the challenge and walks to captain Liu's office. Without hesitation, she knocked on the door and open as soon as she heard the man's reply.

Captain Liu stood up immediately as the woman who his best friend loved his entire life enters his office. Xu Long Wei and he knows each other from the military training when they were still in Country A, and he often mentions about Vera. Although their relationship is comparable to blood brothers, he never sees the face of the woman since the guy were always possessive of her photo. He stops insisting after he almost lost her finger when he shoots his hand, trying to sneak the picture out of his precious book.

When the woman vanished seven years ago, his friend, who is always cold and prideful called him for help. Since it was the first time to hear the man sounds lost and defeated, he left the military and didn't hesitate to help him leave country A. It was the most significant decision of his life as he considers the military camp his home. Looking back to those memories, he never regretted his selfless decision to be with his friend on the darkest time of his life. Now the primary purpose in life is to serve the guy and to make sure the no harm will come to his family. Right now, this camp is his new home as he commands the soldier under Xu Long Wei.

"Captain Liu, it's nice to see you again". Jia Greeted.

"Enough with the formalities. I am your man's best friend, and I considered Xu Li my Godson; I hope you could also treat me as part of your family." He smiled. "We met in an unfortunate situation, but I hope you had forgiven me for causing your injuries."

"Of course, It was nothing. Besides, I was also stupid at that time. All is forgotten, I hope we could start a new chapter." Jia smiled back and offered her hand for a handshake.

When all the past grievances were forgiven, they proceeded to discuss Jia's role in the camp. They stayed in the room for hours while they organize the best method to improve the weakest soldier's skills. After a while, both parties are satisfied with the result they had mapped out; it will only depend on Jia how to execute them. Not worried at all, Jia left the room and with a smile, choose to meet her platoon. She used to be the commander of her army; however, at the moment, in order to regain her past-self, she needs to start all over again. She can't help but be excited, and the longing in her heart for the upcoming training ahead ignited.
