chapter 12 Mother's health

Stacy woke up early that morning, ready to start a new day. She took her bath and changed into formal wear, as she had to head to work early. She was on morning duty.

However, her plans were suddenly disrupted when she heard a scream coming from downstairs.

Alarmed, Stacy rushed out of her room and hurried down the stairs. The sight that met her eyes made her face go pale with shock and fear.

Her mother was lying on the ground, seemingly unconscious, while her father was barking orders and trying to figure out what had happened.

Without wasting a second, Stacy rushed to her mother's side. She could see that her mother was still breathing, but barely. Panic ensued as she realized the severity of the situation.

She instructed the driver to take them immediately to the nearest hospital, Babael Hospital, which was known for its excellent medical facilities.

As the car screeched to a halt in front of the emergency entrance, Stacy and her father rushed her mother inside. The nurses in the emergency area quickly sprung into action, assessing her condition and immediately taking her into the emergency ward.

They called on Doctor Ling, a renowned cardiologist, and her team leader who rushed to the scene.

Doctor Ling quickly examined her mother, checking her vital signs and ordering further tests.

After a few tense moments, he turned to the nurses and instructed them to take her into the surgery room.

There was no time to waste. Her mother needed immediate medical attention. Any more delayed time could lead to her death.

As the nurses wheeled her mother away, Doctor Ling emerged from the surgery room and called out to Stacy. "Miss Feng, get ready. We need to prepare for your mother's surgery," he said urgently before rushing off to prepare himself. Stacy nodded, fighting back tears, and turned to her father.

"Dad, go and make the necessary payment. Mom's in good hands," she said, trying to reassure him. Mr. Feng nodded, his face etched with worry, and quickly went to take care of the administrative details.

Stacy knew she had to remain strong for her family.

Once her father had left, Stacy took a deep breath and entered the bustling hospital. She made her way to her locker where she changed into her surgery uniform.

When she came out and headed to the waiting area outside the surgery room, where other anxious families waited for news about their loved ones.

She couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie amongst the worried faces.

After what felt like an eternity, Doctor Ling finally arrived wearing a mask and scrubs, his eyes tired but determined. Stacy's heart skipped a beat as she waited for his update.

"Doctor Ling, what is wrong with my mother?" she asked, her voice shaky with anticipation. Although she had knowledge, she still needed to hear from him, he was an expert.

Doctor Ling looked at Stacy with a grave look. "Her heart doesn't seem to have the regular beating pattern. The electrical impulses that coordinate the heart are not working properly," he explained.

Before Doctor Ling could continue, Stacy spoke up, surprising everyone in the room with her profound knowledge. "It develops when the arteries that supply blood to the heart become clogged with plaque.

This causes them to harden and narrow. Plaque contains cholesterol and other substances. As a result, the blood supply reduces, and the heart receives less oxygen and fewer nutrients.

In time, the heart muscle weakens, and there is a risk of heart failure and arrhythmias," she recited, her voice filled with determination and fervor.

Doctor Ling smiled, impressed that someone as young as Stacy had taken her studies so seriously. "You're absolutely right. It's a condition called coronary artery disease. And we have to fix it urgently before it becomes worse."

Stacy nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew they had to act quickly to save her mother. "Let's begin," she said, her voice steady and confident. They all headed into the surgery room, she was the assisting doctor, that alone gave her a little relief.

The surgery began, and Her father's anxiety skyrocketed as he waited outside the operation room. He couldn't sit still, his mind racing with worry and prayers for his wife's well being.

He observed other families in the waiting area, their faces reflecting the same mix of fear and hope. But seeing that his daughter was in there, that gave him some hope he knew she would definitely do her best.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the light in the surgery room turned green. The doors swung open, and the nurses wheeled her mother out, still unconscious but stable. Stacy had a bright smile on her face giving her father hope again.

As her mother was transferred to a recovery room, Stacy walked towards her father, who was anxiously waiting by the side.

She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "The Surgery was successful, she's going to be fine, dad," she assured him, her voice filled with hope and conviction. "The doctors said she is going to be fine, rest assured."

Just as Stacy finished speaking, she saw her Boyfriend Jin running towards her with a worried look. He embraced her tightly, his whole body shaking with relief and fear. "Are you okay? How is mom?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

Stacy returned the hug, feeling the weight of the moment on her shoulders. "I'm fine, Jin. And mom is doing great now," she assured him, her voice filled with reassurance and love.

Suddenly, Stacy's best friend Yuan Yuan rushed towards them, tears streaming down her face. She hugged Stacy tightly, her tiny body trembling with emotion.

"Auntie, I know Aunt will be fine. She's strong," Yuan Yuan whispered, her voice filled with courage and resilience beyond her years.

Stacy smiled through her tears, her heart filled with gratitude for her family and friends unwavering support. She knew her mother would be fine.
