Moonlit Betrayal: A Luna’s Choice

“I, Edwina Streak-Ridge of formerly of Silverstreak Pack…” spoke Edwina. Aaron knew what was coming. “No, no, stop! You cannot.” But Edwina ignored him. “…adopted daughter of Everridge Hounds, reject you, Aaron Silvermaw, the Lycan Prince as my mate,” shouted Edwina, tears streaming down her face. A bright light escaped Edwina’s chest and she fell to her knees clenching her chest to ease the pain. Aaron stood before her completely frozen, perplexed. He couldn’t believe what Edwina just said. She was his true love. How could she reject him and why? “Why? Why? Tell me what my fault is?” begged Aaron. Edwina wiped her tears, stood up and simply walked away from him. ***** Edwina was adopted by Alpha and Luna of Everridge Hounds after her parent were killed in a rogue attack. The Arrival

After a hectic day, Edwina arrived at her home. She sat on the couch with her head resting on the headrest. The whole day she thought about her life. She knew everything about herself. How everyone called her 'lucky charm', but the kids called her 'mudwolfe'.

Her whole childhood flashed before her eyes. Since the day she remembered her childhood, she knew that everyone called her special. All the elders loved her but that love made all the kids hate her. She remembered how Lorelei and Etienne used to bully her. They would hit her, made her fall and pretend as if they were playing with her.

Only Aaron, Bardolph and Valenthia were on her side. They used to protect her. She tried learning fighting skills but Lorelei was being taught by her mother, Consuela, the best warrior in all of the lands, so she would always be defeated by her.

"Oy, witch! When will you learn how to fight? Do you want to die like your parents?" Etienne would taunt her.

"Her adoptive parents gobbled up two packs due to her. She thinks he is special as she calls herself Streak-Ridge as if she is the princess of the Silverstreak pack as well as Everridge hounds. Stupid girl! Orphan! Orphan!" Lorelei would bully her.

"Don't listen to them. You are a princess," Aaron would say to her. He was so sweet and kind just like his mother.

Once she almost glowed before everyone. "Come on, witch, jump! Nothing will happen to you. You are so scared of a simple jump," taunted Etienne. It was not a simple jump. It was a jump from a cliff to the lump of sand kept for construction. Kids were playing with the sand and then decided to jump on it. Slowly the height from which they were jumping kept increasing and then they were at the cliff. They were ready to push Edwina when she glowed almost blinding everyone for a minute. She was so bright that no one could catch her, and she ran away.

She topped when she reached her home, and she cried a lot in front of her mom and dad. Thorin heard everything and next day dumped a bucket full of sand over Etienne and Lorelei's head. They went home crying. But no one could prove that Thorin did that to them. Instead, they both were scolded for playing near a construction site.

From that day, the girls were a bit scared of Edwina, but the bullying didn't stop. They would call her names from a far and never tried to touch her. What they felt that day when she glowed was pure fear. The light was not only bright but hot also. They felt as if their face would be melted off. Now they understood that what their parents used to talk about was not legend, it was true. Edwina really had powers.

Her doorbell broke her focus from her past life. She groaned and stood up. When she opened the door, she saw Lily standing at the door with a dress packet in her hands.

"This is for you. I told you I have a dress, wear that. Give it to no one. Wear it on the day of engagement. Everyone will look at you. There will be no one more beautiful than you," Lily kept speaking and entered.

"Woah! Woah! Woah! Calm down! No need to speak so fast and no need for this dress," said Edwina.

Lily looked at her with a tilted head and her hand on her hip. "If I say there is a need for this dress, there is a need for this dress. You know nothing about fashion, I taught you that. So, you will listen to me. You will wear this dress and make Aaron's heart drop. You will make him realise that he made a mistake when he betrayed you. That asshole, how can he do that to you. Stupid ass!"

"So, I am wearing this dress to make Aaron jealous?" asked Edwina, smiling. She almost laughed when Lily called Aaron a stupid ass.

"Of course, why else? Show him what he is losing," snapped Lily.

"You know he too is getting engaged, right?" asked Edwina.

"Yeah, yeah, that does not matter. Oh, wait! Take your boss with you. He is handsome, which will make Aaron more jealous. Yeah, that's a good plan. Shall we talk to your boss?" asked Lily.

"Shut up!" laughed Edwina.

Laughing and giggling and talking the girls packed the bags and soon the day arrived when Edwina would leave for her home. She hugged Lily and said her goodbye. She sat on the bus with a heavy heart and kept praying to moon goddess to give her strength.

But in the midst of the travel, the bus broke down. Now she was late for the engagement ceremony. She was supposed to reach early morning, but she was late now. She ran to her home, but no one was there. Her family had already gone for the ceremony.

Her servants welcomed her, and she hugged everyone of them and told them how much she missed them. They helped her get ready and told her the address of the ceremony. She ran to the ceremony hall and stood before the door. She could hear the songs being played inside. Her heart was about to shut down. She would see everyone after five years. That would be so taxing for her. And seeing Aaron would take its toll.

Her full-length white hair was tied in a neat bun showing off smooth of her back. The dress Lily gave her was sleeveless and backless with along trail. The red colour looked majestic on her tan skin. It appeared as if a peach tree sprinkled red petals all over her. A few locks were dangling near her ear, kissing her face.

With a deep sigh, she opened the door, and everyone looked in that direction. Everyone's eyes widened with shock. They were looking at Edwina after a long time and to their shock she looked gorgeous.
