Chapter 26 - Firebrand Steed Pt;2

"I thought you had already forgotten," Kaith's voice had the same grumpy tone he previously used when speaking with Edward.

Jovan ignored the old man's words and turned his attention to Leo, Edward, and Steffon. He recognized the oldest two, as Leo was a Guild Leader, and Steffon himself was quite well-known in the city, but he had no idea who the youth was.

However, before he could say anything, Lucien, who had entered the room with him, suddenly spoke up. "Huh? Aren't you my father's friend?" he tried to remember the man's name, yet it never came to him.

Edward let out an awkward smile. He and Saurus weren't that close, but even so, Saurus's own son thought of him that way, so he decided to go with it. "Edward." He let out an awkward smile, as he remembered that his second interaction with Saurus was just like this.

"Yeah, that's right..." Lucien looked at Edward and Leo with curious face. He was very surprised that the boy wasn't just close with one Guild Leader but two of them.

"Oh? You know Saurus?" Leo gave the boy a closer look. His cultivation was only at the Iron Rank, so it was indeed very surprising that the boy had such connections.

"We traded some things at Steffon's shop some time ago," Edward looked at Steffon, who still maintained his straightforward and serious face.

"Edward had some other herbs when he sold us the first batch of Sun Bathing Weed, and we had to ask Saurus to come to identify them," Steffon quickly explained as he felt all the gazes fall on him.

"Another herb?" Lucien's eyes shone as he realized how Saurus and Edward had met and why Saurus was so friendly to the boy. "So it was you who found the Moonlight Dancing Grass?" His opinion of the boy changed once again as he thought that no ordinary person could easily have access to such rare spiritual plants.

"Moonlight Dancing Grass?" Kaith stopped applying the medicine on the Firebrand Steed and looked at Edward with a ghastly face. "Are you serious?" He then turned to Lucien and tried to confirm what he had heard.

"Yeah, I didn't even know such a plant existed..." Lucien grinned as he answered, cursing in his head as he had just revealed something he shouldn't have.

"Good Lord! Did you rob some Platinum Tamer or something?" The boy having so much Sun Bathing Weed was already surprising, but for him to even have a long-lost spiritual plant was even more so. "Don't tell me that you sold them all?"

"Unfortunately, I sold all of the Moonlight Dancing Grass." Edward felt his nerves tingling as his fears of people targeting him due to the spiritual plants kept rising.

"Dammit! And I thought that I could get my hands on some good things!" Kaith spat on the ground as he returned his attention to the Firebrand Horse.

Edward sighed in relief as it seemed that this part of the conversation ended and looked at Jovan, who walked over to Kaith, which seemed to be his master.

"You are damn lucky, old man. I almost was put on the draft!" Jovan washed his hands in a nearby bucket and began to help him.

"Tsk, there is no way that someone of your level can help in the northern frontier." Kaith barely paid attention to his disciple's words and continued to work hard. "I just hope that you don't cause much trouble at the Trainer's School."

"It's just training a few brats, how hard can it be?" Jovan laughed happily as the only time he was truly at peace was when training monsters.

"This is why you can't train my companion?" Lucien walked closer to Jovan and tried to convince him one more time. "It's just a Dark Claw Wolf. You shouldn't have much problem training it."

Kaith, his first helper, and Jovan all looked at Lucien with strange faces. The Dark Guild had a monster trainer, so they didn't understand why the man was looking for Jovan.

"I don't have time, besides, why would I help you?" Jovan sneered as he looked at Lucien, who kept insisting. "Did you forget how you defeated me in the tournament?"

"That's already in the past." Lucien bit his lips as his usually stoic face gave way to a nervous one. "The vice-leader will follow my father, and I will be the temporary leader while they are away… My Dark Claw Wolf has been stuck at the beginner levels of the general realm for so long, and I believe that only you can train him adequately."

Jovan gasped in surprise as he heard Lucien's words. "You will be the guild leader?" Lucien was two years younger than Ava, so it was quite unexpected that he would be offered the position of guild leader. "Even so, I can't help you… My teacher will also be sent to the northern frontier, and I will take care of his classes while he is away."

Lucien tightened his fists as he gazed at Jovan. "Please… Deep Fangs is my first pet, and I can't trust anyone besides you with him."

Jovan sighed as he saw Lucien's eyes. He didn't expect the man to be so frank. "Fine, but it will take quite a long time." He finally gave up and accepted the request. "And I don't like anyone bothering me as I work, so be mindful of that."

Lucien bid his farewell and left shortly after Jovan accepted his request. The night was fast approaching, and Edward knew that it was time for him to return to his farm. Although he was tempted to stay and watch the Kaith work, the thought of traveling back in the dark made him hesitate.

When he arrived at the farm, Whitey and the rest of the herd greeted him with enthusiasm. Edward played with them for a while, realizing that he hadn't spent much time with them since he left early that morning.

"Did you all miss me?" he chuckled as the rabbits hopped around him. He lay down on the grass, and their soft fur brushed against his skin. He closed his eyes, savoring the peaceful feeling that the farm always brought him.

As he lay there, his mind wandered to the Monster Tamer Association School. Socializing had been a struggle for him since he transmigrated to this world, and he thought that joining the school might help him connect with others.

However, the king's summons ignited a newfound curiosity in Edward about the world beyond his farm. Although he had been in Amberhold for almost a month, he had barely explored the city. Yet he knew that it was too soon for him to embark on a journey like this. He sighed, recognizing that he needed more time to prepare himself for the challenges that lay ahead.

"Take your time, Edward," he said, looking up at the night sky with a mix of emotions. He had been so focused on his training over the past few days that he barely had time to think about anything else. "The full moons should be coming out in the next few days, right?" He whispered to himself as he gazed at the rabbits.

Since Whitey's evolution, no other rabbit had shown any changes to their information index. This confirmed to Edward that the evolution phenomenon needed both moons to be at their fullest.

Edward suddenly jolted up and shook his head, realizing he had much on his mind. Despite everything, all he wanted to do now was to sleep.
