The first hunt

A small stream of water passes through the middle of the forest. It was not very wide, covering only five to ten feet of width. The flow of water was also slow and tranquil and serene water.

The tranquil water suddenly rippled when a wolf jumped in it, and the water spilled on either side. The white wolf was about two meters tall, and it was four meters long. Its white fur was drenched in the water and stuck to its body, revealing a large slit on its right side. Blood flowed down from the wound.

It yelled in pain. A group of wolves came following the white one and were standing at a distance, watching the white wolf. A wolf with grey and black markings on both sides stood in the foreground. They were not as big as the white wolf but about a meter in height.

A small white wolf pup came running with its small legs and stood opposite the grey one. He snarled, baring his teeth at the grey wolf.

The white wolf in the water whimpered, looking at the small pup. But the other wolves all glared at the white wolf.

At that moment, the wolf howled. Aragon and Katheryn heard it.

"It seems to be coming from the south side," Katheryn said looking in the direction of the river.

"I think it's near the stream."

"Stay close to me." She shouted at Aragon, grabbing his collar, and yelling even louder, "DO YOU UNDERSTAND."

Aragon was startled to see his aunt agitated so much. Her usual aloof attitude disappeared, replaced with a serious expression.

Aragon nodded.

She released his collar. She turned toward the direction from which the howl came. Then she made a gesture for Aragon to follow her.

They both ran towards the stream and saw the scene. The white wolf with a small pup ahead, and the wolf gang were standing still.

Katheryn whispered, "It looks like an infight between the wolves." She glanced at the white wolf and small pup. She wanted to wait and see what happened. Then hearing the words Aragon spoke, made her curse.

"Shall we go and attack them?" Aragon asked with a straight face. He looked at the wolves and still asked her to move in. He wasn't showing the slightest sign of fear.

"Aragon, it's not the time. Can't you see?" "They are four wolves."

"They are only two of us." "If it were one, we could have gone, but there is a whole gang in front." Katheryn tried to explain the situation to her nephew. It was his first time with wild beasts, and he wouldn't know about their ferocity.

She finished speaking and turned to see him, and she was shocked to find him missing next to her. And she was frantically looking for him when she discovered him walking in the direction of wolves.

She ran after him without much thought, but it was already too late. The wolves have taken notice of them and have switched their prey to them. They growled even more upon seeing Aragon and Katheryn.

Katheryn sighed and smacked Aragon on the back of his head.

"Can't you wait till I finish?"

Ah! She sighed again.

"I wanted to scare you a little, but it was me who got scared."

"What a damned kid you are."

"I can't even stop a kid." Katheryn laughed mockingly.

"There you go again." Aragon unsheathed his sword.
