Revenge Of The Battle Healer

Reed, standing in the midst of the chamber, sighed and let go of his staff. The healer staff fell to the ground, and the bright glowing runes slowly dimmed.

The boss monster, [Goblin Assassin Volken], leaped down from the pile of bones with eerie grace. Standing on the ground, grinning, it suddenly rushed towards Reed, swinging its dagger horizontally in an attempt to end the fight quickly.

Reed met the attack with his blade, blocking it with a sharp clang. The shockwave from their clash sent both of them staggering backwards.

The goblin eyes widened in shock, unable to comprehend how Reed had managed to block his attack. Reed smirked. "Surprised? I've gotten faster since the last time we met, and this time I'll make sure to teach you a little something called 'Fear.'"

The assassin's expression hardened, its resolve intensified. It could tell this was the same guy it had killed before but something about him felt off.

The goblin rushed in again, swinging its daggers vertically this time, aiming for both of Reed's arms. Reed placed his blade back in its sheath, perfectly timing his move and blocking before the daggers could reach their mark.

The goblin assassin yelled in frustration at not being able to land a hit for the second time. With a smirk, Reed countered, slashing the goblin across its chest.

The goblin leaped back, a line of blood seeping through the cut. Frustration filled its eyes as it came to realize, its speed wasn't enough, it needed to put the weak human who dared challenge him, in his place.

It came to a conclusion and initiated phase two. Stabbing its black dagger into its neck, the essence from the blade seeped into its body, turning its once white eyes to an ominous black.

Reed's eyes widened. "What is the goblin doing? The blades are supposed to paralyze him, unless... Its the red one that does that," Reed thought.

"This should be interesting," he muttered, gripping his blade tighter and readying himself.

With a sudden burst of speed, the goblin assassin charged at Reed. So fast that Reed couldn't even react, its dagger plunged into his stomach.

Reed gritted his teeth and pulled out his blade, but before he could counterattack, he was kicked in the chest, slamming against the cave wall.

The system prompted a warning: [Player has incurred critical damage, HP is now at 15%].

Reed gasped in pain, his body slumping to the ground. The paralysis effect took hold, freezing him on the floor as the assassin made its way to end him.

Reed smirked, paralyzed on the ground. "Thiss must be the monster's trump card," he thought, but the had his own as well.

[Player's unique skill Drain is now active.]

The paralysis effect began to wear off as red miasma began to spew out of Reed's body. Reed pushed himself back up. "I couldn't ask for a better way to end this."

The bleeding effect caused by Reed's ring was constantly dropping the assassin's HP. Although Reed needed to successfully land an attack to gain HP, Reed had an idea in mind.

Blood gushed out of the wound inflicted, dropping the goblin's HP even more. Enraged, it decided to attack again. It lunged at Reed, its legs moving in a blur as it swung its dagger, aiming at Reed's neck.

Reed focused intently on blocking, successfully parrying its attacks as bits of the goblin's HP began to dwindle.

As the battle wore on, the monster's attacks grew more frantic and less coordinated. Reed used the opportunity to counter, dealing a critical strike, severing its right arm that held the red dagger.

Reed smirked. [Player has gained 15% of his overall HP.]

The monster leaped backward. With its now severed arm, its HP began to drop by 10. Its once lightning-fast strikes became too slow to be considered a threat.

Its body trembled with the fear of continuing this fruitless battle, and it was clear it was losing.

Reed seized the opportunity, slashing off its second arm in a swift slash. The goblin screamed in pain, collapsing to the ground and beginning to crawl in a futile attempt to escape.

Reed stepped forward, his expression cold yet excited. "Where do you think you're going? I told you I would teach you what 'fear' feels like," he said, raising his blade.

Reed sliced off both of its legs. The boss monster let out a loud scream; it had never seen a human this cruel in its life of hunting down humans and slaying the weak. This was the first time it was genuinely scared for its life.

Reed flipped the goblin to face upwards, staring intensely at its face. The goblin was shaken. "This ends here," Reed said.

With a powerful strike to its head, Reed slayed the assassin. The goblin's body went limp as the life drained from its eyes.

Reed stood over the fallen assassin, breathing heavily. He sheathed his dagger, feeling the rush of battle subside. "Now it's over," he said coldly.

Reed wasn't a psychopath who loved killing; to him, this was just personal payback for the way he had been cruelly taken out before.

The system prompted a series of notifications:

[Player has leveled up]

[Player has leveled up]

[Player has reached level 12]

Reed coldly walked away from the body and went to pick up the goblin's daggers. "I'll be taking this now," he muttered.

"Sweet," Reed muttered, turning his head and noticing a small pile of items—blades, shields, and more—stashed in the corner.

He walked up to the pile and immediately filled his inventory with the loot. Afterwards, he went to the entrance of the chamber, picked up his healer staff, and activated the runes.

As he made his way out of the cave, he knew he didn't want to be there when his old party arrived. For him, justice had been served.
