A New Beginning in Avalon's Capital

Entering back into the game, Reed was teleported to Avalon's main capital next to a fountain.

There, he lay in view of the scenery of players of various level gaps covered in expensive armor, both rare and epic items.

Turning his head, he saw the tall buildings and the castle at the center of the capital; the tutorial village was nothing compared to this digital masterpiece.

Now that he was here, his main things he needed to do was take a quest, find traces of Vinos, and level up.

Reed wanted to know more about the traces and so decided to review the main quest again.

He checked the quest to see if there was any extra info or clues, but there were none.

But Reed wasn't easily swayed, His digital map updated, showing him the full view of the capital. He then decided to make his way first to the adventurers guild, where he could finally take really challenging quest s and maybe some an.

On arriving there, Reed was greeted with a tall, massive building; the one in the village was nothing more than a laughingstock compared to it.

Opening the large doors, Reed went inside, hoping to meet the receptionist. Inside, the tables were arranged in a more orderly manner, and the wood looked higher quality, with much more space.

He walked up to the receptionist desk, passing all the other players minding their business, the classic "I don't care" attitude.

At the receptionist desk, this time there were three receptionists answering players who came to the guild.

Reed walked up to the middle one with yellow hair, a woman named 'Maria.'

"Hello sir, what can I do for you?" Maria asked politely.

"Do you have any dungeon quests?" Reed replied.

Ah, dungeon quests. These are quests that require the player to fight in a cave-like dungeon environment, similar to the one Reed did when he fought against the goblin assassin. Monsters in there keep spawning unless the boss is killed.

Maria stared at Reed using her appraisal, which allows her to only see a player's level.

She could tell he was quite strong, but he was only at level 12. "Hmm, I think so. Check the quest board, you should see something for your level."

Reed then walked up to the quest board. There, he saw the various quests posted that he would like to take.

The first quest was: "Clearing the Kobold Nest"

| -Objective: Enter the Kobold Nest and eliminate them.

| -Location: Kobold Nest Dungeon, Underneath Dorian Town.

| -Enemies: Kobolds

| -Rewards: 3 Gold, "Gor'zak's staff" (Rare)

The second quest was: "Rescue the Captives."

| -Objective: Free the villagers captured by the undead lich to be used as sacrifices.

| -Location: Crypt of Despair, beneath the valdor's Old Graveyard.

| -Enemies: The Undead.

| -Reward: 5 Gold.

The third quest was "Retrieve the Ancient Artifact," which struck Reed's attention.

| -Objective: Retrieve the Ancient Artifact stolen by bandits and hidden in the Bandit's Hideout.

| -Location: Bandit's Hideout, deep in the Rocky Highlands.

| -Enemies: Bandits

| -Rewards: 55 Gold

| -Details: The bandits hijacked a wagon heading for the royal palace and stole an artifact sent to the king by a bordering nation. Retrieve it and gain the favor of the king.

Looking at all the quests, Reed couldn't help but feel surprised by their rewards. Although a hundred copper coins was one silver, it wasn't the same amount for a gold coin. A gold coin was worth a thousand silver coins.

But as the saying goes, high risk means high rewards. Reed stretched out his hand, going for the first quest, knowing the others would be too much for him to handle at his current level.

But then a subtle voice came from beside him, "I wouldn't do that if I were you," said a man wearing a steel helmet.

Reed turned to look at him. "And why would you say that?" he said confidently.

"Look." The man replied, pointing to the level cap required to take the quest, which displayed '20' and above.

Reed turned his gaze and saw the level cap displaying red, meaning he wasn't at the required level.

"You are not at the required level, man. You will only get yourself a death penalty," the player said.

Reed turned to look at the man, saying, "Tell me, what is your name?"

"It's Von," the player said.

Von, a player from the knight class and levels higher than Reed, seemed quite noble compared to the other scumbags Reed had encountered.

"Von, I see." Reed grabbed the quest paper and pulled it off the board, which caused it to dematerialize, signaling he had taken the quest.

"I just told you not to do that. You're gonna get yourself killed," Von advised.

Reed looked him in the eye and said, "You can change those words once I get back."

Reed wasn't dumb or prideful; he simply saw it was something within his capabilities and decided to go for it.

Then Reed walked back to the receptionist, asking her some other questions.

Von was slightly frustrated. He had never encountered a player hell-bent on dying. "Ugh." With a sigh, he went back to picking his own quest.

Meanwhile, Reed, next to the counter, was talking to the receptionist. "Excuse me, Maria, I have a question to ask."

"Of course, sir. Go ahead," Maria said, polite as ever.

"Have you heard the name 'Vinos'?" Reed said.

The room went silent; everyone laughing and enjoying themselves suddenly paused, turned, and started glaring at Reed.

"Sorry sir, but you aren't allowed to speak about a heretic in this establishment, and as such, I humbly ask you to leave," Maria said seriously.

Reed's eyes darted around, seeing all the people glaring at him, with a sigh he complied. "I understand." He immediately turned around and left the building.

On coming outside, he pondered their sudden shift in behavior when he said those words.

Oh well, there wasn't much he could do on the matter, and he decided to focus on his qest.

Next stop was a shop with the title 'Mage-Craft' written on a signboard next to it.

It was high time Reed bought one of those. A new skill for the upcoming battle.
