A Million Pieces

New Year's Eve. At GoldenBlood mansion, the upper area of Sanchi city.

Sounds of constant chattering, music and clinking glasses could be heard throughout the GoldenBlood mansion. There was a party going on and all the people present were in quite a joyous mood. Today they had finally defeated the first-rate guild 'Sky Ravagers', taken their territory and finally achieved becoming the first-rate guild. The war between the two guilds has been continuing for quite some time now, starting with some small skirmishes and then into the full-scale guild war.

As the members of the guild were engulfed in the alcohol and social gathering, there was a man who stood alone on the balcony, drinking a glass of fine red wine. He took a sip, looked towards the moon, took a deep breath and sighed deeply.

"We have finally achieved our lifelong dream then what are you sighing for Arjun?"

Suddenly someone came to him from behind and hugged him. Hearing the voice he smiled a little.

"I don't know. It kinda feels surreal to achieve this feat finally. I mean who would've thought a measly third-rate guild started by two complete nobodies would one day topple the first-rate guild? It's kinda overwhelming.

Finally turning around to see the woman in his arms, the vice guild master of GoldenBlood guild, Selene.

Seeing the woman in his arms, under the full moonlight which was accentuating her beauty a notch, he couldn't help but sigh once more. Thinking how lucky he is to be with her.

Her rose-shaped lips, her cat eyes, her diamond-shaped face, her slight golden-brown long hair waving in the slight breeze with a slight brown skin complexion it was just perfect to the eyes.

Grabbing her waist and closing in on her, he kissed her lips.

Parting apart after a few moments, Arjun looked directly into her eyes. Their breathing was ragged, for Selene it was due to sheer excitement but for Arjun, it was because of the knife stabbed in his abdomen.

"Why???"

That's the only word he could utter in his mouth before he lost his footing and got down on his knees.

"Hahahahah, you ask me why??? Because you're a stubborn bastard who doesn't know what's good for the guild" She said

Hearing her maniacal laugh and accusation, Arjun's heart broke into a million pieces.

"What did I do? I've always thought about this guild before anything then what did I do to deserve this?" Arjun said almost choking on his blood. There were tears in his eyes. It was not from the physical pain as Arjun was used to it, rather it was due to the pain of betrayal.

"Why??" He asked again shouting, coughing up a lot of blood. After that, he laid down against the balcony's railing.

Selene was about to answer his questions as he was dying anyways. She wanted to put the man into complete despair. But before she could do that, a voice came from behind her.

"Now now now, what do we got here? Arjun of the GoldenBlood Guild, the man feared by the whole of Dynasty, the strongest grinder is on his knees in front of me. Who would've thought that this day would come for the high and mighty Arjun. Hehehe." Said the man with a twisted smile plastered over his face.

Seeing this man Arjun finally got his answers.

This man, Aman Kapoor, was the son and heir of the Kapoor Corporation which is a 100 Billion$ corporation. A few months back, agents of the Kapoor Corporation came to his guild with an offer. The offer was to be the subsidiary guild of the Kapoor Corporation's First Rate Guild "Kapoor&Sons" in the Dynasty and in turn, the corporation will help out the GoldenBlood guild in their war situation to win by a great margin. But Arjun rejected the offer instantly. He didn't even see the terms and conditions before rejecting because he saw the guild as his family and he had complete confidence in winning this war.

After seeing Aman, Arjun sorted out all his answers but he still had one question.

Before Arjun could do anything or ask anything, Aman said with the same twisted smile plastered over his face.

"Do you want to know why your lover stabbed you?" Aman said with excitement on his face.

Arjun just looked dead into Aman's eyes. If looks could kill, Aman would be dead over 69 times by now.

"Hahaha, you still got the energy to be angry at me? Hahaha, I like it when my prey is over-energised. Don't worry I will tell you everything, after all when I finish I would love to see the despair on your face. Hahahaha, I cannot control my excitement anymore"

"So listen here you little shit, the woman you so endearingly love is the spy of Kapoor Corporation. 5th week into the launch of Dynasty, Kapoor&Son's guild members saw you grind near the tutorial village and the skills you displayed there made you our prospective hire for the guild. We kept watching you and you kept getting better so we decided to send our spy Selene to you. Hehehe. To think you would fall in love with my b*tch. Hahaha, yeah you heard it right she sleeps with me every day."

After saying all this, Aman expected Arjun to be in complete despair but the scene he saw made him frown.

Arjun was completely calm, and this calmness unsettled Aman.

He had a gut feeling that something was amiss.

"Why are you so calm?" Aman asked but he got no response.

Selene who was standing behind Aman all this time was also feeling fidgety. Her intuition told her to leave this place immediately or something bad will happen to her.

But before she could decide what to do, a kunai came into her vision and before she could react, the knife was already placed in her left eye, blood oozing out of her at rapid speed. She was essentially blind after this.

"AAAAAGGHGHHHHHH!!!!!" Selene screamed while holding her head.

"What the..."

Aman was stunned for a second and when he came back to his senses he saw Arjun still looking at him with the same calmness.

Using the last bit of his energy, Arjun took a little bit of his revenge but that's all he could do. There was regret in his eyes and fire to take revenge but all of that was for nought as his body was out of his control and he was on the last of his breaths.

Aman was irritated by Arjun's calmness and he finally lost control of his emotions and killed Arjun with a bullet in his head.
