Myra got up from the bed. "I just heard the doorbell ring, someone is at the door."
"What?" Kevin sat up, his heart skipping a beat.
Could it be Cynthia?
He gulped in fear. What the hell was wrong with her? She just promised not to visit!
"Are you expecting anyone?" Myra turned to ask him, her hand on the doorknob.
"No. I'm not." Kevin replied, his heart racing as he tried to get down from the bed. "Wait up, Myra. I'm coming with you."
She paused. "What? Why?"
"Nothing, darling." He took her hands into his and opened the door.
If it was really Cynthia, it would be a bad idea for Myra to go alone. First, Cynthia would discover her identity and channel her future attacks toward Myra.
Second, she might tell Myra all sorts of bad things about him. He just couldn't risk it.
Myra glanced up at him. "You really don't need to do this, Kevin. Whoever is at the door would understand that you have to rest."
