Chapter 21

Walls of mud, parallel to each other on a dark afternoon, created an alleyway for travel and a shortcut access to the back entrance into the mansion. Few people used this alleyway to travel since it was small and always damp. Therefore, unless the main road was occupied or one desired quietness while traveling, no one would use this road to connect to the outer zone of the city.

It is unknown why Jerry used this alleyway, but one can assume that he tried to hide the fact that he came into contact with a large amount of money and was planning on a huge purchase. A silent wind blew on the weeds that grew along the path, this cold wind made the alleyway unfavorable for most people, since the stagnant water would get also get cold while setting many people's shoes. As Jerry trod forward unabashedly, he peered into the distance to see three figures stopping near the end of the alleyway with domineering poses. He already knew that they were coming for him and a grin appeared on his face.

As he came into their sight, they also saw him and ran towards him with a huge momentum, threatening to overwhelm him into submission.

"Haha, you kid. I never thought you were so smart and pretty daring. You're once again the talk of the town. It's really surprising that you reared an entire lamb in secrecy while no one discovered it. Now kid, if you go with me to the accounting office tomorrow to transfer it in my name, I will forgive all your accounts with me. Do you realize how I almost lost face when my colleagues thought I was oppressing a little kid who works at my pen? How could they think that when I take care of you like my son? Therefore, to demonstrate how my this elder takes care of his juniors, you have decided to gift me that lamb, okay? Thank you so much, I won't forget your kindness."

As Ji Tiandi spoke until his spit almost flew to Jerry's face, he finally stopped and looked at him with a smile that was a bit threatening. Obviously someone of his status wouldn't dare make a move on a junior like him but that wouldn't stop him from secretly increasing his workload and more mischievous things. At that moment, Jerry looked at his up and down with a calm gaze. He didn't care much about his shamelessness and spoke out.

"Boss, I'm truly willing to give you this lamb as a gift if you so please. A junior should honor his senior as this is the right thing to do. Since I already agreed, I request senior to let me pass through and walk outside the mansion. I wouldn't want this humble one to waste your precious time."

Seeing as Jerry had agreed, he didn't waste him time on his and let him pass with glee, however before long, he stopped him once again.

"Kid, I just realized something. You agreed way too fast, why did you do so? What are you hiding?"

Jerry stopped suddenly and turned around while holding his side pockets tightly like a fidgeting girl. He barely spoke out the words,

"W-w-what else may I help you with boss?"

Seeing him hold tightly onto his gown, he spoke with an angered tone.

"Whatever is in your pockets, HAND IT OVER!!"

Hearing his tone, Jerry suddenly gritted his teeth for a while, and then suddenly looked at Ji Tiandi with a resolute firmness in his tone.

"I-i-I won't give it to you. You should know by now I'm backed by Shang Fei. He won't tolerate you going for his stuff."

Ji Tiandi's look suddenly changed, but he sneered the next moment.

"Shang Fei's stuff huh, there's no way he would entrust you with his belongings. I will take whatever he gave to you and he won't even complain about it, after all he has no evidence that I took this stuff from you."

Jerry once again gritted his teeth and refused to relent.

"Okay, here's an idea. If you give it to me, you get to keep your little lamb, otherwise....."

Jerry finally spilled a drop of tears and relented. He emptied his pockets and pulled out a large number of gems and bracelets, even earrings made of gold and jade. Seeing so much treasure, Ji Tiandi's eyes glittered with light and he reached forward to grab those treasures. Jerry panicked a little but finally let him take them away. He immediately walked back into the mansion with little sobs while secretly wiping away his tears. Ji Tiandi and his two subordinates didn't care much about this little victim as they started to count their haul. A few gems and pills were found inside the haul; however Ji Tiandi pulled out a small pill among those treasures and realized it was an inferior grade nerve poison pill. He knew the effect of this pill was harmless and would only make one unconscious for a few minutes. He ignored this little incident and returned to his home with a happy smile. Jerry however, returned to his bushes with a secret smile on his face and dug out the cabbat and jade slip he received from Shang Fei.

He got his belongings and swaggered out of the mansion to go buy the element refining method. Since he had the jade slip, he knew he would be given a right to buy that method that belongs too VIP customers. Buying this method was dangerous for mortals since they didn't have Innate Qi in their bodies and they had to burn their vitality instead. The only reason mortals use it is when they have no choice but to use it in charge it activates the hidden spirit root in their bodies but that almost never happens. Most mortals end up overusing their vitality and die at a young age or even suddenly.

Jerry however didn't care about this and still chose to buy the cultivation method since he had the money to even though he knew he will never step into the cultivation world. He went out of the mansion and returned a few hours later with the cultivation method, reading it along the way and finally burying it with the rest of his belongings near his favorite bush.

The next day came and he was awoken along with everyone in the entire mansion. All maids, housekeepers,stewards and the rest of the staff was awoken with an alarm that broke out throughout the entire mansion. Many people didn't know what was going on and they were called to the square early thing in the morning. When they arrived, they figured it out. It was reported that there was a theft last night with many people being knocked out by the inferior poison pill and getting robbed in the middle of the night. This incident wouldn't have been such a big deal if it didn't involve the mayor's daughter also losing a necklace. It was discovered that she visitEd the servant's quarters just yesterday and went back with a fake necklace. When her mother investigated it. She was furious and also heard from the housekeeper that the servant's quarters also experienced a theft unheard of. For such a serious event, no one was let off, even the stewards were called forth to participate in the inspection. When Ji Tiandi listened to what others said, he suddenly felt a cold chill and nervous beads of sweat fell on his back. He tried to look at where Jerry was situated to see if he can pin tragedy on his and was greeted by his cold smile. He finally knew he was done for.
