Sara and Alex returned to Legend Corp, and as usual, all eyes were on them, and many scowled at Sara, especially those from the PR department. They still believe Sara must have played a fast one on them and gotten close to the president before anyone else, which was why she was chosen to be his secretary.
"Where are you coming from, Miss Ambrose? Jocelyn asked just before Sara could walk past her.
Sara wondered why they were all here when they should be working, but upon checking the time, it was still lunchtime, and in five minutes, it would be over, and they would return to work.
"Who would have thought that you were such a whore?" Jocelyn clicked her tongue as she intentionally blocked Sara's path.
Sara closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath. She didn't have the strength to deal with her, Alex sapped most of it. And she was not going to waste her time here either. She still had work to do.
"Out of my way, Miss Archer," Sara said in a stern tone that momentarily shocked her but she soon frowned, annoyed that she was ordered by someone who used to be under her.
"Someone grew some balls after only a few days of leaving the PR department," another girl who used to sit in the cubicle behind Sara piped in. She, just like Jocelyn, flipped her hair and then stared at her nails and looked at Sara with a condescending gaze.
"Even you too, Layla?" Sara asked and the said girl raised a brow, leaned on Jocelyn and stared at Sara, silently challenging her with her gaze.
Sara sighed and massaged her temple. She really didn't have time for this. Checking the time, she had three minutes left and she could see Alex waiting in the elevator and the look on his face told how impatient he was becoming.
"How about we do this some other time. I have something important to do," she said and tried to walk through but they still blocked her path. Sara looked around and found others just watching and doing nothing. This was getting really tiring. Would any of them be saying the awful things they were saying if they had been the ones chosen instead of her?
"To seduce the president? Huh?" Jocelyn asked, and Sara wanted to laugh.
If only they knew who was seducing who.
"Yes, to seduce the president and all the guests who will be in the conference room in two minutes. Now, out of my way," she pushed them aside and walked through, between them.
"Jocelyn…" Layla called as she struggled on her footing so thay she didn't fall but Jocelyn was not any different.
Eventually, they both fell ungracefully and their eyes went wide when Sara didn't even turn to look at them fear crept on them when they saw Sara stop and the president approached her. He said something to Sara which they weren't able to hear and she proceeded ahead while he came to stand in front of them.
Everyone else who was around scrambled away or pretended not to have seen anything, leaving the two to their demise.
"President Legend," Jocelyn quickly stood, trying to make herself look presentable but failed miserably.
"What are your names?" He asked as soon as Layla also stood up, but he didn't allow her to speak.
"Jocelyn Archer. I am the manager of the PR department, President," Jocely spoke, a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips despite the little ache in her heart that he forgot her name so quickly. This was the second time she had told him her name. First was when he called her to tell her that he wanted to take one of her girls as his secretary. That was only because she is the manager of the department.
"Layla Packer. I am just a regular…" she didn't get finish talking when he interrupted her.
"You are both fired," he declared.
Their faces went blank and drained if it's color the moment he said those words.
"President please…" Jocelyn wanted to plead but he didn't give her the chance to do so.
"Is everyone listening?" Alex firmly asked and everyone present turned to look at him. For a few seconds, it was nothing but silence. "Sara Ambrose is my secretary and therfore, a superior to every single one of you. If something similar to what happened today ever repeats itself, she has the right to fire you. Do I make myself clear?"
Silence. That was all as no one wanted to speak and let their voice be heard and noted.
"Whatever your personal conflicts may be, keep in mind that you can lose your jobs, if she so feels like taking it from you," he added and left the ground floor.
The moment the elevator close murmurs filled the floor and many even started typing on their cells phone to warn others. Those who didn't think much about Sara in that position before now knew not to mess with her unless they were tired of working in Legend Corp or any descent job ever again.
"Everyone is waiting, Sir," Sara said the moment the levator opened and he stepped out. She stepped aside to give room for him to pass but instead, he closed the distance between them and held her waist. "What are you doing…?" She trailed off, panicked the moment his face drew closer to hers.
He towered her even while on heels, and his hold around her waist didn't give her any chance of fleeing from him.
"I need to calm down before I walk in there," he said in a whisper. He placed his forehead on hers and breathed her scent. "Let me hold for a little longer," he pleaded.
He was serious when he said he needed to calm down. The people in there would most likely annoy him and he was already pissed. He might make some rash decision if he did not calm down before going to meet them.
All of her senses were telling her to run but she couldn't despite wanting to. Although his hold was firm enough but not to hury her, it also prevented an escape. Each time she struggled. He increased the strength on the arm to keep her in place.
"What if someone sees this? They will definitely misunderstand," she uttered, her eyes darting left and right but mosty left where the door to the conference room was. "President…"
"Alex," he cut her off.
"Huh?" Sara was confused.
"Call me Alex from now on." Sara gaped at him.
