Expanding Arsenal....

Since Maximus could not transform into the animals, he choose the animals he was going to drift with according to the body weight and size ratio and what kind of insane abilities he could get because of the special structure in their body or any other kind of ability.

He had chosen bears, polar bears if possible, for their sense of smell which ranges from 16 miles to 22 miles and their ability to distinguish different smells separately. He chose the badgers, honey badgers if possible, for their tough skin which are known to survive high altitude drops and even protection from handguns. He had considered turtles for their hard shell, but ruled it out for various reason.

Some being; they break when dropped from a high place and another reason is Max felt the turtles shell is not a part of its body and its over its skin, stuck to it. He had doubts about it cause he couldn't transform. For speed he didn't have to think twice before choosing the cheetah.

He became ready for the next field trip to the zoo that the orphanage took the children to every year. A day before his trip to the zoo, Max came upon an animal that blew his mind, he wondered how come he never had come across this animal in his past life. Tardigrade or also known as a water bear was a microscopic animal [google it, they are pretty amazing....and kinda cute] , an animal nonetheless could survive literally anywhere, be it in an active volcano, in the Mariana trench, Antarctica, even in space(vacuum)!! What was even more surprising was that they were as common as fruit flies.

He wanted to Drift with the creature as it technically is an animal, his powers worked only on animals, birds and even fish, but not on insects. Max's only guess was that Pan thought insects were...well insects, beneath him, he was a former Olympian after all. Or maybe the memories of insects or to jumbled up to form a drift.

He also found out the inbuilt powers of the goat or maybe from Pan himself could be activated throughout his entire body. He could jump higher, run faster, hit harder: especially with his head. But the most interesting thing was the eyes. Ever wondered why a goat's pupils are horizontal? He found out they could perceive more, like a wide-angle camera mode. This helps them react to threats faster and allows them to take split second decisions to fight or flee.

The next day we had been guided in like usual, but unlike everytime he was here: he always took a nice long nap in the petting zoo area, he made his way to his first target, 'Time to work my charm' he thought.

Max went to the matron incharge and asked, "Sister Ruby can I go have a glass if water? I'm thirsty(AF!!) ?" "Its 'May I'. And yes, you may." she gives me a small nod and watched me go to the help-desk before returning her attention to the other 14. Yeah, one kid ran away and the other, the youngest in our orphanage got adopted 2 months ago.

He reached the dangerous mammals exhibits, luckily finding honey badgers. Confirming that no one was looking that way, he bent the cage bars enough to fit him and bent it back so as to not let the animals escape. Don't get him wrong....he would prefer the animals freed. But by doing so he would cause panic, which would mess up his plans.

Max got his shepherd's crook in his hand twirling it like a professional just to hear a hiss and scratching sound, coming face to face with three angry honey badgers ready to tear him apart. He acted first giving him initiative, knocking the left one far away, He stepped one badger that pounced straight at him and held it in place with his ape-ish strength. The third one tried to get behind Max, but he got a hold of it with his free hand and held it against the cage's fence.

The first badger he knocked away with his staff came back and this time he readied his staff and time it so that he struck the badger right on the back of its skull and got knocked out. He didn't want to drift with an unconscious badger, so he placed the one in his hand, pressing him down not allowing him to move and placed the staff gently on its head.

He felt the same sensation of getting sucked into its eyes when looking into them, its memories flowed in and he said out loud, "Asvós" meaning badger in greek. He felt the same itch on his right shoulder blade. Not risking to stop and check he let both the badgers go and quickly made his way back to his group. Drinking water wouldn't take long, he needed to find another excuse.

On his way back Max went through the reptile exhibit when all of a sudden he got an idea. As he did not put his staff back inside his pocket dimension in his stomach, he slowly opened a small door where its food is dropped, on the constrictor boa exhibit, he slowly and carefully placed the staff on its head. He had to admit it looked really beautiful. It didn't even react, just lazily turned its head toward Maximus making eye contact. As he did not decide on it and was a split second decision, he did not know the greek for 'snake', making a mental note to look into it.

With that taken care of, he ran back to his group not stopping anywhere else. He gave an excuse telling that there were many people wanting a glass of water, which was a good one cause it was a pretty hot that day.
