Chapter 23 : It Feels Like This?

I never felt more alive in my life. It was like I had been living a half-life up to this point with Caine’s mark poisoning every moment, every thought, and every feeling. My body felt new and I wanted to explore it, especially with Wren.

I kissed him harder as if kissing him was my oxygen. I flowed through the rhythm of the moment. I felt greedy for his touch, for his lips. I opened my lips to allow his tongue to slide into my mouth but he didn’t. He pulled away from my kiss.

He rested his forehead against mine and tried to catch his breath. He lifted his head and kissed the place his head had been resting on. He looked into my eyes with anxious excitement. Before any insecurity crept in, he eagerly asked, “Are you okay? How do you feel?”

I didn’t feel any pain. I felt completely fine. “Everything’s okay,” I smiled. “I’m more than okay. Why wouldn’t I be?”
