Chapter 3: The First Task

As I woke up from my afternoon nap, the first thing that came to my mind was the task assigned by the system. 'Read the Math textbook for 9th standard for 2 hours.' It sounded simple, but it was more than just a task for me. It was a challenge, a test of my determination and willpower.

I sat up on my bed, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. The room was bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun, casting long shadows on the walls. I could hear the distant sounds of my mother cooking in the kitchen and the faint chatter of my siblings playing outside. It was a typical evening in our house, but it was the beginning of a new journey for me.

I picked up the Math textbook from my bag; its cover was worn out from years of use. It was a second-hand book passed down from one student to another. But to me, it was a treasure trove of knowledge, a key to a world I had yet to explore.

I opened the book to the first chapter: Number System. It introduced the subject, explaining the basics of numbers and their properties. I started reading, my eyes scanning the lines of text, my mind trying to comprehend the complex concepts.

The English was difficult, and the terms were unfamiliar. I found myself stumbling over words, struggling to understand their meaning. But I didn't give up. A quiz? I had just finished reading the chapter, and now the system wanted me to take a quiz. But I didn't back down. I accepted the task and started the quiz.

The quiz was challenging. It asked for definitions of terms like 'Natural Numbers,' 'Whole Numbers,' 'Integers,' and 'Rational Numbers.' It also had tricky questions like 'Is zero a rational number?' and 'What is the difference between a rational number and an irrational number?'

I struggled to write the exact definitions, to recall the properties I had just read. I found myself questioning the purpose of this task. 'How would writing definitions help me in Math?' I wondered.

After I completed the quiz, the system gave me a rating of D-. I was disheartened. 'I worked hard, but my score is low.' But then, the system rewarded me: with the complete answer sheet for the test. As I reviewed the answers, I realized where I had gone wrong. I understood how to formulate my answers and express my understanding in words.

As I lay in bed that night, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. I was disappointed with my score, but I was also motivated to do better. 'The EduMaster 1.0 system is not just a game; it's a tool. A tool that can help me score better, change my life, and make my parents proud.'
