The First Meeting with Starlight

Hughie, the protagonist of the show "The Boys," was currently watching the news on TV in his home. He had just buried his girlfriend!

On the TV, A-Train claimed that he was chasing a bank robber when Robin accidentally walked in the middle of the road, which resulted in the tragedy. But Hughie knew very well that his girlfriend Robin had kept to the side of the road, not in the middle.

Hughie was overcome with anger. He didn't know why the superhero A-Train, his idol, would push all the blame on his dead girlfriend and act innocent!

Hughie turned off the TV angrily. He didn't want to see A-Train's ugly face ever again!

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Hughie, still in a horrible mood, forced himself to get up and answer the door!

"Hello, are you Mr. Hughie? I am a legal consultant with Vought International! I am here to talk to you about your girlfriend. Can I come in?"

The uninvited guest was a man in formal clothes: the lawyer sent by Vought International!

"Come in!"

Huey also wanted to know how Vought International would deal with the incident that killed his girlfriend. He let the man in and sat opposite of him on the table!

"Mr. Hughie, the higher-ups of Vought International are deeply sorry about your girlfriend's accidental death. They had sent me here due to humanitarian concerns.

"If you sign this confidentiality agreement and guarantee that you will not discuss your girlfriend's death with others, you will be able to receive compensation from our company! I hope you will consider it!"

The lawyer handed a check to Hughie. The number written on it was in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Hughie was furious. He really wanted to throw the check on the lawyer's face, give him a few slaps, and throw him by the collar out of the door!

Hughie's response was different than what the lawyer expected, but the lawyer chalked it out to the grief about his recently deceased girlfriend.

"Alright, please call us when you are ready to sign the agreement!"

The lawyer ultimately left Hughie's home!

Hughie's father later visited Hughie!

"Hughie, I think you should sign that document. Your girlfriend in the afterlife wouldn't blame you.

Hughie's father tried to persuade Hughie!

"Father, I don't want to sign that agreement. I want to know more. I want to charge them with manslaughter for Robin's parents' sake. I want to bring Vought to court and give Robin justice."

Hughie disagreed with his father. His conscience told him that if he signed that agreement, he wouldn't be able to face his girlfriend in the afterlife!

"Hughie, you have to know. Justice couldn't come to every dead person. And your opponent is the Vought International, the company that literally makes superheroes.

"I know your personality. You're just like me. You've been living a life of compromise since you were a kid. You can't just change right now! Listen to your father, and give it up!"

Hughie felt a burst of anger in his heart. He didn't know if it was because of his girlfriend's death or because, deep inside, he knew that his father was right. He was just a weak person who had no power to resist the oppression in his life.

"I'm going to work!"

Hughie angrily rushed out of the door.

Sigh!

Hughie's father sighed deeply as he watched his son.

The night comes quickly. Tonight was the time for the Vought International shareholder meeting, which Li Yue had to attend. He was invited as the newest member of The Seven and the successor to Lamplighter!

The vice president Madelyn planned to use this shareholder meeting to introduce Li Yue and Starlight, the two new superheroes, to the world.

From now on, Li Yue and Starlight would become a tool to bring massive profits to Vought International!

Li Yue finally saw the female lead of this drama, "Starlight," when he arrived at the meeting venue. He didn't think that she was stunning at first glance, but she was still rather attractive.
