A new ally emerges.

" What do you mean I'm not going with you?"

Atom asked Corsair in disbelief over not being chosen for the coming mission.

" Exactly what it sounds like. I need you elsewhere."

Corsair turned to the man and spoke.

" Where could be more important?"

Atom asked in confusion.

" There is about to be a Galactic war and right now we're severely lacking in manpower."

Corsair explained to the man.

Upon hearing his explanation, Atom's face turned to one of anger.

" What do you mean lacking manpower? I'm a walking nuke."

Atom exclaimed.

" Even as strong as you are Nathan you can't do everything. Which is why you're going to go find an ally for us."

Corsair explained.

" Who could possibly help us right now?"

Atom asked.

" The Green Lanterns."

Corsair exclaimed boldly.

" What? Are you serious? You can't be serious."

Atom exclaimed in anger and disbelief.

" Who are these Green Lanterns?"

Rachel asked.

Nathan turned to the group and began explaining to them the Green Lanterns.

" The Green Lanterns were created by a group calling themselves the guardians of the universe. These guardians were just members of the Eternals who broke off and formed their own corps. They considered themselves intergalactic cops who upheld Law using their power rings."

Nathan explained to the others a brief history of the corps.

" Why haven't we heard of them before? I mean wouldn't they want to help stop what is going on right now?"

Kurt asked in confusion.

" Yeah, why aren't they helping. These so-called Intergalactic cops."

Warpath asked as well.

" Well..."

Corsair was going to speak but was cut off by his second in command.

" Because they died. They were wiped out. By who or what or even how is unknown. But they vanished a very long time ago. In fact the last they vanished long before the fall of Babylon, the ancient city of Uruk."

Atom explained once again.

" How do you know this?"

Kurt asked.

" We have files on board. I do read you know. But that's not my problem right now."

Atom said to the man before turning back to corsair.

" My problem is you think I'm better suited looking for a group of deceased cops instead of helping out on the front lines."

Atom said to the man.

" Look, I've got sources saying they've spotted a glowing Green man. Now, if by some chances this report is real we can use his help. You are the only one I trust to see this through, now go."

Corsair explained to the man without room for debate.

" Fine, but just don't get yourselves killed old man. The lords know you're crazy enough as it is."

Atom joked before turning to leave.

" Ha! I hear ya."

Corsair replied.

Atom smiled before turning to leave. As he did Rachels delicate reached out and grabbed his causing Atom to turn towards her.

" Be careful, okay?"

Rachel said to the man as she squeezed his hand.

Nathan smiled at the woman and pulled her into his arms giving her a tight yet gentle hug to sooth her fears.

" I will. And you be careful as well, Rachel. If things get to hot, you get out of there."

Nathan explained to the woman. He raised his hand and brushed a strand of the woman's hair out of her face and then gently placed his hand on her cheek.

" If you need me, I'll be there for you. I promise."

Nathan said to the woman.

Rachel smiled at the man and then started leaning up to his face.

Nathan smiled and did the same, leaning down and gently placing a tender kiss on Rachels lips.

The men and women in the room looked upon the two in shock as none of them had known how close the two were growing.

After exchanging tongues with one another for a few moments Nathan finally separated from the woman.

Nathan looked down at the woman and smiled one more time before turning to leave the ship for his mission.

" Is there any danger in this search?"

Kurt asked corsair as the others watched Nathan leave.

" It would be a suicide mission for anyone else. But if there's even a small chance that even one Green Lantern still exists then we could use his help."

Corsair explained as he watched Nathan's glowing body race out his sight.

Out in the coldness of space Nathan raced towards the sighting of the supposed Green Man.

' This better be right or I'm going to be pissed for coming out here for nothing.'

Nathan thought to himself as he flew.

Time continued on and Nathan's search continued proving in vain until finally something caught his attention. Floating aimlessly in space was a large asteroid with a Green insignia burned into it.

' No way.'

Nathan thought in shock as he looked upon the floating asteroid.

He shook his head clearing himself of his shock and flew towards the asteroid, landing just inside one of its many cavernous entrances.

" Guess I'm about to find out if the Lanterns are still kicking after all."

Nathan said as he started walking further into the Asteroid. Following the trail Nathan noticed the signs of a fight had taken place inside.

" Tear marks, dried blood stains, and these bones this is space the bodies shouldn't have decomposed. I better be on my guard"

Nathan spoke as he started emitting his nuclear energy. He continued walking through the Asteroid and finally arrived in what appeared to be the main chamber.

" Whoa!"

Nathan exclaimed as he looked around the ruins of the Lantern Corp. The inside of the asteroid appeared to be made of some kind of marble like substance, it's gleaming black surface shined bright even with the dried blood painting it.

But the most impressive thing or what was supposed to be, was the massive Lantern in the middle of the room.

" Shattered, like I thought. Nothing's here. No Lanterns, no power. Just a waste of time. But still, I guess this was a good find. Maybe we can figure out what killed the lanterns in the first place."

Nathan said to himself as he observed the ruins of the previously heralded Green Lantern corp.

" Well, another time perhaps. I'll leave this here so I can find it again."

Nathan spoke as he walked over to the main power batter to place his tracker. But when his hand entered the chamber and placed the tracker a spark shot out of the power battery startling Nathan.

" Shit in hell. That scared me. Thank god no one was around to see that. I better get back to the others."

Nathan said to himself. He turned and quickly departed from the remains of the Green Lantern corps headquarters.

However, unknown to him, as he left the Central power batter started sparking again. And inside the cave a dim Green Light emitted from the batter signaling the potential revival of the green lanterns. Maybe they aren't extinct just yet.
