Prologue (1)

"Esteemed Chen, it is our honor to have you in our country. Should I send someone to pick you up?"

"No. It's okay. I rather use my foot to get there. A perfect night to ponder the worldly mysteries."

"Are you perhaps...referring to immortals, sir?"

"Yes. Others said it's ridiculous, but someday, I'll prove them wrong. What do you think President Fu? Am I insane?"

"No. No. Of course not. There's nothing impossible for the living god of earth, Chen Wu. I'm sure immortality is within your reach."

"Mhmm. You don't have to appease me. I know immortality is a ridiculous dream, but I won't give up. Fu, I'll shut the phone now. I'll talk to you later."

"Alright. See you later, Esteemed Chen."

Chen Wu sighed and put the phone in his pocket. Everyone really believes immortality doesn't exist besides me.

Chen Wu shook his head and smiled wryly. He looks at the night sky and a fresh breeze of cold wind brushed him.

I guess... Visiting Tokyo for the new year was not a bad idea.

Chen Wu smiled and started walking in the streets. Lively people filled in the road. A new year was coming, so it was within his expectations.

Chen Wu passed them, and by the time he realized it, he arrived in an overarching bridge.

Looking at the bridge, and to the sky, Chen Wu was dazzled by the scenery.

Fireworks soared and brighten the twinkling stars, causing the vast, starry night to display its beautiful scenery. To either of his side, tall buildings portrayed their magnificence.

What a beautiful night.

He smiled and imprinted this experience. To him, this was another beautiful scene for him to comprehend the worldly mysteries.

Walking in the bridge, Chen Wu's eyes occasionally wondered at the moon with a hint of desire.

And then his emotions stirred and he sighed.

Does immortality truly exist?

And... what is Qi?

Chen Wu had no idea why he always has the desire to fly near the moon and unravel the mysteries behind the universe. He only remembers when he was a kid, he already had this grand dream.

But this dream only exists in fantasy.

"Is this what they say: You can see, but you cannot learn?"

Under the starry sky, Chen Wu's figure appeared lonely.

People always argue about mortals and immortals. A debate such like fantasy had been a tradition for weebs.

The only reason Chen Wu have learned about this quote was that it came from a "non-immortal believer" who was pissed by the insane claim of his counterpart weeb "immortal believer".

And that quote reached out to most "immortal believers" weeb.

Perhaps... that quote was the reason the "immortal believer" slowly lose its prominence and thus only a few weebs believed immortals do exist these days.

"I wonder if immortality and Qi have a relation. If immortals were once mortals and Qi is air...Would that mean I have to absorb air to become an Immortal?"

Chen Wu pondered. He then sighed.

"I have reached the peak of this mortal world. What would I need to do in order to achieve my dream?"

Chen Wu was not your ordinary man. Yes, he indeed wore a tattered and almost old-fashioned cloth, but his identity is not simple as you think it is.

The truth was Chen Wu is the wealthiest man alive in this world. He earns 70% of the Earth's income every day. He owns technologies, companies, businesses, entertainment, and dozens of establishments.

However, Chen Wu never appeared in the public. It could be said no one knows behind those huge businesses owned by those famed people, Chen Wu was the mastermind behind all of their success. In fact, he didn't care about his wealth and thus let those people ran companies on his behalf.

After all, Chen Wu's ambition was set to immortality, not riches and fame. To him, those are only mortal's glory. If he died, everything he achieves in the mortal world remains there. No matter how high his achievements he had during his time on earth, it's meaningless after his death.

Because of this point of view, the people of higher status admired him. They didn't divulge his identity and had bestowed him the title "The Living God of Earth".

To these people, Chen Wu was an esteemed person with the highest authority. Despite Chen Wu's age of 30, they had no thoughts of betraying him.

But though Chen Wu was well recognized by the people of higher status and treated him like a God, he himself was not pleased by them.

To him, becoming a God means all the living beings in the world knew who he was and acknowledged his miraculous abilities.

But as for him, only people of higher status knew of him and they probably did it because he owned their wealth. Furthermore, Chen Wu didn't have miraculous abilities.

His title of God was empty and don't hold weight.

Thus, Chen Wu didn't acknowledge such a title. No matter how young he was, Chen Wu was not blinded by fame just because others put him at the top of the chain.

If Chen Wu ever wanted the title "The Living God of Earth", he would get it in his own way. And prove himself worthy of such a title.

And for Chen Wu, unraveling the secret of Immortality and becoming one was the key to prove himself!

Chen Wu looked at the dark, starry sky constantly brightening up because of the fireworks and he stopped midway through the bridge and laughed. Fireworks are mortal's creation, but these seemingly ordinary objects gave Chen Wu a sense of admiration.

"Fireworks can soar in the sky and brighten the stars and moon. But compared to me, even with my capabilities, I'm way too far to do such a thing. Only Immortals and Gods could probably achieve such a feat." Chen Wu sighed and looked at the yellowish, bright moon. Only at this moment did he notice the cloud of beautiful mists covering the moon like a veil of enchantment.

He couldn't describe what he was feeling and feel sentimental. The only words Chen Wu could utter at this moment of time was 'Beautiful! Extremely Beautiful!'

This gave a breather to Chen Wu and a sense of relaxation. This scenery reminded him of fifteen years ago.

Fifteen years ago, that certain night on a balcony, a young man made a vow to pursue immortality after he saw that enchanting moon, alongside the various myths he heard about the Olympics Gods.

This was the precious memory Chen Wu held dear and keep him motivating on seeking the truth towards the path of immortality.

"Now I think about it, why's the moon surrounded by the mists?" Chen Wu stared blankly and mused. "Qi...According to the ancient books, sutras, and various theories I came up with, Qi is obscure to the mortal's eyes. Hence, the reason we can't pry over such a profound mystery. It cannot be seen nor detected."

Chen Wu nodded his head and stared at the moon intently before he sighed. 'No gain for tonight, I guess.'

As he began to continue his leisure walk, Chen Wu suddenly have a thought. "Wait a moment. Didn't I say Qi was once an air? So, in other words, if Qi was the air, and the air is undetectable, I have to feel its existence!"

"That's right!"

Chen Wu was delighted with his discovery. He nodded his head and said. "It's worth a try."

After saying that, Chen Wu focused his eyes on the moon and the mists. He imprinted this image and closed his eyes.

Closing his eyes, Chen Wu began envisioning bluish yet kinda white tiny threads that were like hair. The only difference Chen Wu felt about these million tiny threads was that they seemed to bring a unique ambiance that Chen Wu hadn't feel before.

This kind of feeling was an eye-opener.

'Is this what they called Qi?' Chen Wu thought. 'So, do I have to continue maintaining this feeling or open my eyes?'

Chen Wu had no clue what to do next, so he decided to continue feeling this unique ambiance. However, fifteen minutes had passed, and Chen Wu didn't feel anything other than sensing this unique ambiance.

With bewilderment, Chen Wu had no choice but to open his eyes.

The moment he opened his eyes, Chen Wu was like a mortal who undergone his epiphany.

Chen Wu could feel something different when he looked at the sky. It seemed like his eyes become brighter than before. Even before the fireworks could explode, he could already see everything in darkness. These kinds of eyes were like night vision goggles.

This is simply too miraculous!

"Is this my first step towards Immortality?"

Chen Wu rejoiced and finally praised Tokyo. It seemed that visiting Tokyo was never a waste of time!

Chen Wu smiled but was solemn when he heard a loud boom. "What happened? Thunder?"

Up above the sky, clouds started to condense. Seeing such a thing, Chen Wu was terrified. However, he quickly calmed himself and began running, having no mood to remain leisure.

Another boom echoed out. And then, lightning flashed. Chen Wu had no clue if it was a coincidence or not, but he knew his death had arrived, for the lightning to land exactly where he was.

"Ahhhhhh!"

Chen Wu's last words were his screams. The unbearable pain caused by the lightning stimulated his thoughts to shatter and he soon lost consciousness.

As the lightning disappeared, Chen Wu's remains that should've been there was nowhere to be seen. And oddly enough, the cars that were on the road seemed to not see the devastating incident.

After a short silence, fireworks began exploding in the sky, and the world was as before. It was as if the people have no clue of the devastating lightning besides the unfortunate Chen Wu.

At this moment, a voice echoed in the sky, but no one was able to hear it.

"Finally. After millions of years, a person that would continue my bloodline has been born. That kid was Chen Wu, huh. A decent lad. I hope he'll not disappoint me."

After the voice disappeared, numerous fireworks began soaring one after another.

All of those fireworks exploded and formed beautiful words.

"Another year has sprouted, a new journey begun!"
