Cassie was all set and ready ahead of time. She opted for a pair of simple faded jeans and a white shirt. She tied her long hair back and fixed her gaze on the closed gate of Don Smith's mansion.
"Do you think... we can handle this job? Can we really help Theo, I mean, the guy they're bringing here?" Alison's voice caught Cassie off guard. She turned to face Alison and let out a sigh.
"I'm here to assist the patient. That's my sole purpose, and I'll make sure I do this job well," Cassie replied cautiously to Alison.
"Patient," Alison muttered, avoiding eye contact. It was a fleeting moment, but Cassie could sense various emotions in Alison's eyes.
Pain, anger... Cassie couldn't quite put her finger on it, but their brief conversation with Alison made Cassie feel like they were in a similar predicament. It seemed like both of them had no choice but to take care of Don Smith's grandson.
They were in this together.
