CHAPTER 17: WHO ARE YOU? 2

“You …. Fine. Let’s be serious! And you are not allowed to throw me away now that you have me!” she said, puffing up her cheeks, her tone a bit serious and sounding aggrieved at the same time.

Ronan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry upon hearing that.

“I told you, you are mine. So don’t let any crazy thoughts wander in your head. You hear me?” he reminded her seriously, afraid that the little one would start spinning tales in her head.

Surely upon hearing that, Braelyn’s restlessness calmed down. And like a grade student, she sat properly as she looked at Ronan, waiting for him to tell her whatever he wanted to tell her.

“Who are you, Arya?” Ronan suddenly asked.

When she heard that question, there was confusion and hesitation before determination appeared in her eyes.

“I am yours!” she responded, recalling what he had just told and reminded her earlier.

She didn’t know if she was his girlfriend, lover, mistress, or a plaything. At least what was certain at that moment was how she was indeed his. That was something he said himself, after all.

When he heard her repeating those words on her own, a smile tugged on his lips as he loved how attentive she was.

“That’s correct, dear. You are mine and always remember that!” he said with emphasis, hoping that the little girl would always remember it.

He didn’t want her to think otherwise or even think of getting that scumbag back. Never! He would never allow such a thing to happen.

“I will!” in a mosquito voice, she shyly responded, facing down, her ears reddening.

“I promised you that I will help you and all you need to do is give me your all. Since you are mine, little one, then I will take care of you.”

“As a person of mine, I won’t allow you to mingle with that ex of yours. I will get angry if I ever hear about you meeting him on your own or looking for him. Bumping into each other, that one I will accept, but the other way around. Darling, I don’t want to make you a golden canary. Don’t force me to lock you up simply because you defy this rule of mine!”

He looked pretty serious about any room for discussion as he said that.

Seeing him like that, instead of being upset and infuriated that he was trying to limit her actions and control her, Braelyn, who had never come across such a person before, found herself liking it.

Seeing him so concerned with Richard just showed that in his heart, her place was pretty good. It might not be that of a soulmate, but he cared enough that he hated the person she was with. That jealousy he was showing right there was enough for her to like him more.

“Like I said, I will take care of you and that means that you don’t have to overwork yourself. As far as I am concerned, you have other several part-time jobs apart from being Arya. You can keep being a model, but the other ones, I would appreciate it if you resign.”

“Huh! If I resign, then how will I cope? I am relying on those jobs too to make a living!” she muttered lowly afraid of raising her voice.

Speaking against him didn’t sound to be a very good idea.

“You … who said that I will just watch you starve? Since I have suggested that, it means that I have a solution to that!” he said helplessly as he looked at the little one who looked droopy a moment ago but then looked energetic the next second as she looked at him with sparkling eyes, obviously waiting to hear about more benefits.

Just how money-hungry was she?

“From the day I brought you here, dear, you will be staying here with me. I will take care of you financially, emotionally, physically and in any way you want. The only prerequisite is for you to stay by my side 24/7!”

“Does that mean I have to drop out of school, too?” she mumbled with grievance as she looked down, afraid of looking into the man’s eyes.

“Arya!” Ronan called sternly Braelyn, who was once again spinning tales helplessly and the little girl was startled awake, forced to look at him though her eyes were being dodgy.

“Darling, I am not locking you in a cage. You will concentrate on your studies, and I will take care of everything. I also have work to do, so how can I just stick with you? What I am trying to say is …”

Seeing that if he spoke in halves, he might end up having a headache with Arya, Ronan started explaining in fuller detail.

As she listened to him as he told her what he wanted from him and what she was supposed to give in return, it all started making sense to him.

In exchange for her body, as she saw it in this situation since it would be a lie that there was love between them, Ronan would turn into her sugar daddy.

Braelyn would have to move from her apartment as, according to him, that scumbag knew where she was staying. Ronan didn’t like that, so whether she liked it or not, she had to move.

Braelyn didn’t see anything wrong with that. She would be saved from paying rent. As long as she stayed with him, a lot of money would be saved. Who didn’t want such a bargain?

Ronan didn’t want her to work so hard. He was worried about how that might affect her studies and also the time that the two of them should spend together.

She didn’t mind getting rid of the part-time jobs too. The allowance he was willing to give her was a thousand times better than all her jobs combined.

If he were to stop her from modeling, Braelyn would have refused. That job wasn’t just a job to her, it was part of her life. When she was nothing and didn’t have friends, it was because of modeling that her life finally changed for the better.

So how could she give that up for revenge?
