Chapter 22

an empty laugh .

       A cousin from your mother's side?" Linda asked and faced Claire , "what's your name Secretary?"she said .

    " Claire Scott .."Claire answered as she continued with her tea .

       " I've never heard of that name before ." she was bemused . what sort of joke was that. Scott ...? in the history of the Morgans ,she had not come across anyone with the name Scott .

     "Yeah... that's why I said ' distant relative'." Daisy acted like a saviour.

   Claire prayed for the topic to drop and true to her heart desire Linda dropped the topic and move to a different thing. she decided in her heart to ask Kelvin about the Secretary and if his answer does not correspond with his sister's,then there's something fishy.

    As of now she want to capture the heart of his sister as a gate way .

    " Daisy do you remember the time when we do swim in the pool ?"  she asked as her eye sparkled at the thought. Daisy nodded .

      " great ..." Linda said and stood up as she beckon to Daisy ," then let's get some wetness on our skin ." 

    Daisy looked at Claire apologically as she mouthed ' follow me ' . Claire being Claire stood up and followed them .she doesn't want to bring an unwanted attention to her self and right now it seems she have two enemies she needs to avoid no matter what . she had checked her self , she's not up to par with Kelvin's already written sutiors.

    Linda followed Daisy to her wing to get change while Claire left for her room to get her training suit . they came down together and went to the pool .

      " I visited your house ." Linda said to Kelvin as she picked up the pizza from its box and bite down on it .

    After spending some more time with his sister ,she left their house to the company knowing that Kelvin would still be there .

     Kelvin looked up from his plate to her and continue with his dinner .

     " I really enjoyed my time with your sis ." she looked at him quizzically. " your sec ... she's living with you ."

      " You've got issues with that?" he asked .

      " Charity organization."

    " relative." he pinned her with his gaze . " did you have any issue with a relative working  for me ?"

   Linda raised her hand in total surrender.  " pardon me , I never knew you had a  relative named Scott ."

    Kelvin swallowed the lump in his throat and ticked his jaw . he wondered why he always defend Claire anytime Linda bad mouths her . maybe because... gosh ! ,he  couldn't place his hands where .

    " so you've did a background check already." a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips .

   As if struck by a lightening, Linda's eyes gleamed.

    " Thanks for the remembrance, I would do just that ." she smirked.

    " Devil ! " Kelvin cursed her in his heart. it looks like he had to do something to her inquzzitiveness . he nodded to him self.

     " I gotta run along ,"  Linda said as she stood up and blew a kiss to him ," catch ya later ."

   He picked up his phone as soon as she left and made some important calls .

     " Make sure it doesn't leake or else ..."

      " Ah - Mr Kelvin ," the voice on the other side chuckled," you don't have to put a threat, her information is already sealed ."

    " Good. " he dropped the call and stood up with his jacket, putting it on he left the office.

      Claire laid on her bed with the dairy she took from the study room . she argued with her self on whether to open it or not .

    But what if it could be useful to her or ... what if she could use it against Kelvin.  No ... , she dismissed that thought. even though they would part one day , she would love to part on a good ground without any scandal whatsoever. moreover she couldn't use his mother's diary against him .

      After thinking for a while, she

rolled over on the bed and returned the book back to her bag and went back to the bed . maybe some other time she would read it . she assured her self as she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep .
