Chapter 17

The gathering that Daisy was talking about was never a small one as she had mentioned.claire was speechless as they entered the lodge used for the gathering.

    Small gathering my hind foot .she internally rolled her eyes .

     Dasiy glance at her and saw the discomfort in her ,she pulled her hand and smiled at her ,

       "Don't feel uncomfortabl-"

       "They are all my acquittance."

    Claire smiled back at her and nod her head .

     "Hey look who we got here ." one if Daisy's friend clapped and her gaze shifted to cliare who was looking around dazed .

        "Who ?" she asked .

      "my new friend." Daisy smiled.

      "Oh .."

     "hi " she waved at Claire .

   Claire nod at her and sat down when Daisy gestured towards a chair.

      "Ehm," Daisy cleared her throat and turn towards Claire ,"let me introduce you to them ."

      "Chloe.."

      "Franca.."

     "Becky.."

   "And ..Lisa " she finished .they all said 'Hi' to her and returned back to there drinks .

   Claire griminced at their gesture. yeah ...rich girls with attitudes. she felt lost in thier midst .when they started discussing with each other ,she looked from one person to another and internally sighed .

      "This is not a place for people like i and Carole." she said in her heart .

      "Hey ,what ya doing?" the voice  jolted her from ger line of thoughts and she looked at the owner of the voice confusedly.

     "Do you work ?where ?"

    Cliare got uncomfortable with the question, she just couldn't open her mouth and say ,"yeah,i work in the Morgan's beauty world.. "   ordinary staff with no status. she smiled nervously and opened her mouth but before she could say anything Daisy beat her to it ,

       "She works in my father's company as the head of the Secretary department."   Claire's jaw fell to the floor as her eyes almost budge out of its socket .

    What !?...she gapped at Daisy. why dis she do that ?,what if they find out ?.

     Daisy's hand reached out and squeezed her thigh under the table as she smiled at her .

    "Whoa .." the one named Chloe scanned her from hair to toe ," you don't look bad though." she shrugged.

   Claire tensed as she felt all judging eyes on her .

     " please girls.." Daisy drawled ,"lets continue with our party. "

      "Yeah " agreed lisa as she lifted her glass of champagne and said ,

   "Cheers for safe journey to our youngest friend who had returned."she winsked at Daisy and chuckled.

    They all cheered and ordered different kinds of food to eat .

     Claire felt overwhelmed with the way things were turning out ,she got to find out that Becky's father was in the same rank with Daisy's father back then and she has been match maked together with kelvin way back even before he traveled out to study .

    Her mouth made an 'o'. when she heard it .no wonder Daisy introduced her as her friend.she internally nod her head .'one enemy to avoid '.

    Daisy did the right thing .she knew that her friends were bunch of crazy bit**s .she wouldn't be the one to introduce Claire to the whole world except her brother does so .

    We will be on our way now." Daisy said and stood up as she pulled the drowsy claire to the exist door when the party was over.

     "Hold her tight-that one looks like a Mommy's girl ." franca tisked .

    Daisy smiled and nod a good bye at them.

"Azra please the car keys ." Claire said as she hastily glumped down the remaining cup of tea and placed it on the table .she qas happy .finally the long term holidays has come to an end .

    As per Daisy's advice ,she decided to go shopping today for some new dresses and shoes for a change over. At least she should uplift her status a little bit .

     "Ma'am," the delightful Azra said handing Claire the keys .she too was happy that her Mistress would be going out again frequently.

    "Are we only shopping for clothes and shoes ?"

    "Lets go first ." Claire hissed and Azra pouted and entered the car .

    Claire strode joyfully through the entrance door of the MBW .

      "Ah .."

  "Miss scott ..? her colleagues gasp when they saw her coming.

     " what happened? "

    "Did you traveled?" another asked.

      "We thougth you left with out a good bye.." her neighbouring co-staff pouted and she laughed.

     "Gusse what ?" someone from behind said as they gathered around her .

     "You have been promoted.."

   Claire gapped at them confusedly, "what??"

    "I'm so happy for you ."

   "You are now the head of the secretary department." her neighbor jumped in delight.

    Claire refused to belief them so she ran to her office and opened the door.

    "Good day ma'am, how can i help you ?" the new staff greeted.

     " you must be Miss Scott ."she said in realisation and stood up smiling.

   "I've heard so many things about you ." she commented.

     Claire stared at the new member for a minute and shifted her gaze to look around the office .the office indeed has changed indicating that it no longer belongs to her .

     Who was behind it ?she asked her self .was it Daisy? but why?.why would she do something like that for someone like her .why?. she supposed not to have done something like this for her because she doesn't know that the marriage was fake and it would definitely end one day .and they would part ways and become strangers.

    And by then she would find out and hate her ,they would become enemies never to cross part again .her heart felt heavy at the thougth of it .she had come to like Daisy and she didn't want any thing to destroy thier relationship.

     The new staff seeing a look of sadness appearing on her face got surprised and confused. was she not supposed to be happy ?,gingerly she called her .

      "Ma'am... is there any thing wrong ?"

     Claire snapped out of her trance and shook her head .

    "Ehm ...." she smiled ,"I'm alright. " she turned and left the office heading to the CEO's lodge.
