Mayra kept waiting for another ten minutes. After ten minutes, the same maid came with a red coloured jewellery box. After giving the jewellery to Mayra as instructed, the maid said,

"Sorry mistress. I did not intend to give the jewellery to miss Rosetta. But she snatched it from me." she said with lowered eyes.

"It's okay. It was not your fault. You can go to your work."

"Thank you , mistress."

After the maid left the room, Mayra opened the jewellery box. There lies a silver chain with a tear drop pendent of sky blue colour just like her dress with matching earrings. These were beautiful, but a little off with the Dawson's status. But Mayra did not mind all these. She just cared about the feeling of giver.

She put the chain around her neck and put on the earrings. Mayra looked one last time in the mirror and smiled with satisfaction.

When she was about to go down for the party, George came in the room. He looked handsome as always. Mayra kept staring at him. Then George break the silence by saying,

"let's go. It's time to start the function."

She nodded at that and start walking with him.

When they reached near the stairs, George put his hand at her waist and said to put a smile on her face.

Mayra saw there are a lot of people. Her mother-in-law is talking to some ladies of her class. She had never seen so many persons in any of her parties. She gets really emotional to see all this but she held back her tears and give a very polite smile to all of them.

When Mrs. Dawson saw that them, she said to the ladies, "Excuse me ladies. There are my son and his wife. I need to receive them".

After saying that, she walked up to them and exclaimed, " You are looking gorgeous, my son."

"You too, mother" George replied with a kiss on her check.

"Let's go you two. I will introduce everyone to you two."

"Okay mother, let's go "
