"Oh! so you are trying to say that I am lying and did not send any jewellery to you, Mayra" her mother-in-law asked her.

"It's not like that, mother. I am just saying that we should ask the maid maybe she had placed it some where else."

"Mayra, in this house nothing was misplaced before and none of my servants ever stole. For your satisfaction, let's call the maid."

Mayra kept standing and Mrs. Dawson took place on the sofa. After about five minutes, there is a knock on the door and the same maid entered the room who got the dress for Mayra after getting the approval to enter from Mrs. Dawson.

"Where is the jewelry I handed over to you." Mrs. Dawson got to the point without beating around the bush.

The maid trembled over her words and she shuttered, "Madam, when I was going to keep the dress in mistress's room with the jewellery, in midway, miss Rosetta stopped me to check out the dress and jewellery. When she was done with checking, I started to head for mistress room. But then miss Rosetta took away the jewellery from me and said "It should not be known to anyone" , that's why I didn't tell you, madam."

Mrs Dawson pursued her lips over the maid's words, "Okay, you can go now. Don't tell anyone about it."

"Yes madam"

The maid bowed and left the room.

"I am sending you new jewellery. Don't come out without it" saying that she got out of the room with bad mood.

"Couldn't she tell me beforehand?" she muttered under her breath.

When she got near her daughter's room, the room's door was already opened and her daughter is trying the latest collection of jewellery that is meant for her daughter-in-law.

"You should ask me before taking Mayra's jewellery." She said to her.

"Ohh mother, what are you talking about! leave that and tell me how do I am looking, huh?" Rosetta asked with turning around.

"You look gorgeous, Rosie, but this jewellery is for Mayra"

"But mother, this is latest collection and you know that I had not bought it now. So I took it. What's wrong in this?"

"You knew Rosie today is your brother and sister-in-law's reception party and there are a lot of guests. Mayra's family will also there. What will they think, that we can't afford some good jewellery for their daughter?"

"It's okay mother. There is nothing to worry as I know that how unwanted Mayra is to them? They don't care if she is alive or dead. Kaithi told me everything."

"Ohh, so it's like this. But I need her to wear atleast something representable, because your in-laws will be here."

"Yes mother, you are right. How can I forget them? Also Erik has agreed to attend the function."

"What about Erik's mother?"

"She is also coming. How can she leave us two alone?"

"Okay, it's good that she is also coming. I will talk to her about your stay here. Oh! I forgot I needed to send the jewellery for Mayra."
