Breakfast (2)

After around two hours struggle, Mayra prepared a lot of dishes. She ordered the maids to set up the dining table.

When she turned to go to her room, she saw her mother-in-law coming from other side of hall along with George and Kaithi.

"Good morning, everyone" Mayra wished everyone.

Kaithi responded to it, "Good morning to you, sister-in-law"

George also nodded to her. Her mother-in-law started walking to the dining table without reacting. Watching her, everyone headed for breakfast. The maids served dishes without any noise. Then, everyone start dining in complete silence.

Mayra looked at everyone with anticipation but when no one remarked on the dishes, her eyes dropped from saddens. She also started eating her food without any comment. She thought it's really going to be hard days ahead.

When everyone was done, they sat in the hall. Then, my mother-in-law started with gloomy voice, "Who had prepared today's breakfast?"

All the servants tremble from her voice, but nobody come out.

When she saw that no one admits, she once again roared at them, "You all better start talking otherwise don't blame me for firing you all"

When Mayra saw that she is going to fire everyone for a single breakfast, she wondered how could someone be so cruel.

"It's me, mom", Mayra said.

She snapped at her and replied, "What mom, it's mother and it's you who prepared the breakfast. I do say that you are quite gutsy to enter in the kitchen without my permission."

"Mother, I thought...."

"I don't care what you thought and still thinking but I want to make one thing clear to you today that without my permission, not a single leaf move from it's place in this house. Do you understand?"

"Yes, mother."

George snapped at Mayra and said, "What! yes mother. Apologize to her immediately. I don't know what your parents taught you".

"Sorry mother, it was my mistake. I will not do anything like this in the future." Mayra said with lowered head.

"You better keep your words in the future otherwise I will not tolerate such behaviour in my home"

"Yes, mother"

"Okay, I don't want to ruin my day from such things. So you love to cook."

"Yes, I do , mother"

"Since, you are so interested in cooking, I won't stop you. From today onwards, you will prepare all three meals of the day. I don't want to be cruel, mother-in-law who snatch her daughter-in-law's hobby."

Mayra's jaw nearly dropped to ground. It's one thing to cook a meal a day. Three meals a day and that is for whole family, that's too much. But she couldn't do anything about that. She literally put her foot under a hammer.She sighed.
