Mother Pan knew that most of her neighbors who had nieces or daughters were eager to push them to her son. Although Pan's mother longs for her son to get married and have many grandchildren, she doesn't want to force her son to marry someone he dislikes.
She hopes that her children will find the one they love and have a happy marriage like she and her husband did. She has seen many loveless marriages that ended in infidelity or a cold relationship between the couple.
Since her son did not like the neighbor's daughter or niece, she would reject them for his sake.
Mother Pan sighed and said, "It's not that I didn't urge my son, but he has grown up now and has his own plans. As a mother, if he doesn't like the girl, I can't force him. I can only wait until he finds the girl he loves and brings her home to show me."
