Chapter 26. The marriage proposal.....

"If you agree to marry Daniel, all your uncle's debts would be considered nullified. You just have to accept some of his conditions, and get married to him." said Grandfather Lee in a plain voice.

Isla was beyond shocked. She could not believe her fate. It has just been nearly two weaks since she entered this house, yet here she was getting the marriage proposal from one of the most formidable family in the country. And that too for Daniel Lee.

She was in daze. She just wanted to run away from all this. But she felt as if something was holding her. She could not just run away because of her uncle's debts. She knew that she would not be able to live with the guilt of oweing such a big amount to the people who were so good to her, and run away.

She finally came out of her daze and said "But why Mr. Lee would agree to get married to me?"

"He already agreed. But he has some conditions. If you agree to them, he would immediately get married to you in an intimate wedding ceremony. So what do you say?" asked Grandfather Lee.

'He already agreed? When did this all start? Why would Grandfather Lee suddenly propose the wedding? And why was she feeling that there was something that she didn't know? 'Isla had many questions going in her mind . She had a big frown on her face. Grandfather Lee could read all the questions clearly on her face.

"This is my way of protecting you , my child. In this mension nobody is safe unless he or she has a proper and stable position. I am in my old days. I don't know how long I will live." he said with a sigh.

"And also, I find you very suitable to be Mrs Lee. You have all the qualities. You just need a stong support and I know you would make us all proud. I always wanted to make you my granddaughter in law. From the very first day I saw you, I wanted you to be a part of this huge empire. Just trust me. This is all I can do for you." He added.

"But Grandfather, I am not sure if this thing will work. Mr. Lee probably doesn't like me." She said nervously. Truth to be told, she didn't know what to do. Her brain said that she shouldn't get herself into all this and just run away from here. But her heart said that she could atleast do this much for a man who considered her as his granddaughter and his family treated her so well. Also, By getting married into this family, she would have people who would care for her , who would treat her well. She would be able to call Grace as her mother. She was so good to her. If she becomes her mother in law, how good it will be. She started to anticipate.

"If he agreed to this marriage then that means he is looking forward to it. We cannot force him to do anything, you know. He does what he wants. And nobody can stop him from doing so. So be assured that he wants this marriage to happen." said Grandfather Lee smiling at her.

"Do you agree for this marriage?" he added.

"I do." said Isla softly.

"Let me call Daniel then, so that we can discuss his conditions." Grandfather Lee called for butler Henry and told him to summon Daniel to the study.

When Daniel was done with his office work, he heard a knock on the door. "Come in" he said.

Butler Lee came in and told him that elder Lee has asked him to come to his study right now. Daniel knew what it was all about. He also knew what was happening in the office and how Grandfather Lee and his Father trapped Isla to get married to him. But he didn't interfere. He was also anticipating this marriage. He wanted to get closure to Isla and know more about her.

When he reached the study he saw Grandfather Lee sitting in a one seater head couch and Isla sitting opposite to him in a three seater. Daniel went in and sat next to Isla.

Isla became tensed. She was already nervous due to the proposal, but now due to the presence of Daniel she couldn't think anything properly.She was freaking out.

" Isla agreed to the marriage proposal. Now we can discuss your conditions." Said Grandfather Lee to Daniel.

"Sure Grandfather" he said and proceed to put forward his conditions. He explained his all three conditions in detail. While he was still speaking, William entered the room and sat in another couch beside his father without interrupting them.

When Daniel was done with his conditions, Isla looked very unhappy with it. All three of them could see unhappiness on her face. She was smiling helplessly at herself and her eyes were filled with tears with her head lowered.

Grandfather Lee and William felt sad for her but couldn't do anything.

"But i really want to do the job in Lee corporation." she said softly with shaky voice.

"You would be the lady boss of the company after you get married to me. You can't work there as an intern. And I don't want my wife to work in such a low position in some other companies as well." He said sternly in his deep voice.

"Do you have something else to say? " he added.

"Why it would only be Mr. Lee to initiate a divorce in case? Why this right is not given to me?" she asked looking towards him.

Daniel was amazed with this girl. He couldn't believe that this was the same girl who was so intimidated by him. And here she was asking for her rights.

"That could be negotiated. You could also initiate it, but I would be the one with the final say in this matter." he said looking at her face.

Isla was not very happy with both of his answers. But she had no other choice. She already agreed to the marriage and couldn't go back on her words that she gave to elder Lee. So she just nodded her head in positive manner.
