CHAPTER 11: The warning

I walked hurriedly to onyx's room, the dream was still hunting my reality. I knocked on onyx's door, he opened it and stared at me.

"Hello" I said while waving my hands on his face, he blinked and drew me into a tight hug.

I was confused by his actions but I hugged him back. After some time he loosened his his grip on me and invited to his room.

He was quiet for some time then he asked

" Are you feeling okay".I hesitated then answered

"I'm feeling disturbed... "

" Me too" he interrupted me. I stared at him and I asked

"what's wrong?"

" I had a really disturbing dream last night"

he answered. I was surprised that he also had a nightmare but it couldn't have been the same dream right?.

"What happened in the dream" I asked out of curiosity.

"I can't say it because it terrifies me" he answered

" Is it that I fell down a cliff burning" I asked.

He looked at me with a shocked expression

"How did you know" he asked

"Why do you think I'm here" I answered with another question.

"You had the same dream as mine" he stated

"I guess so" I answered

"But why?" he asked.

"I have no idea but we can ask someone or something" I replied

" No we can't" he said sharply. I looked at him confused by his sharp reply and then said

" Why, I was thinking of asking mom..... "

" No, we are not asking anyone anything especially that woman" he answered cutting me off.

" Ok but why? " I asked

"Just forget it,by the way we can check the library" he answered.

Although, I was confused about his actions I guessed that he must have been stressed out lately and the pressure must have gotten to him so I let him be. We got to the library and immediately started looking for books on dreams. We looked around for hours but we couldn't find anything special so we gave up. The only relevant book pretaining to dreams was not helpful. I opened some pages of the book hurriedly but I couldn't find anything. I closed the book and it me, I saw something about warnings. I opened the book and found the page. I quickly tapped Onyx and showed him the page.

He rubbed his head and said

"Please read it out loud, I'm having a migraine right now". I smiled and read page

"Dreams can he as a result of our thoughts but there are some dreams that serve as warnings. They come in different dimensions, they either reveal the exact event to take place or they reveal a scene of the event . In these cases, the dream are not clear. Most times, it becomes more profound after continuous dreams but most of the time it's static but in both cases they're warning about the future "

I paused and looked at Onyx he stared back and said

"So it's definitely a warning"

"Yeah but it didn't say why the dream could have occurred to us both" I said. Before Onyx could utter anything the butler came to invite us for lunch.

We left the library and went to the dinning room for lunch. After we had settled down, everyone else came to the dinning table. I greeted everyone but Onyx didn't,he only greeted Dad. This shocked me because onyx was one of the most respectful person I've ever met. No one really noticed it apart from me but I felt that Onyx had a grudge against Mom. As I was eating some veggies from my food I suddenly remembered what Onyx said earlier in his room. He referred to Mom as that woman. I thought of asking him later and I continued eating. After finishing my food, my father asked everyone to wait behind. He looked at us and said

"As you might have known, we are forming a union of two kingdoms with Ovrinoda and to solidify this union, we came up with the idea of choosing one leader when the union is complete. Since this leader has to be from the royal families of both kingdoms, we agreed on marriage. But there's no princess in the ovrino family, meaning that Onyx can't be king and one of you two princesses will marry the crown prince of Ovrinoda. "

l looked at Onyx with a shocked expression but he was cool with it, meaning that dad had told him this before. I didn't want to be royalty so I thought of removing myself from the list of possible brides. Before I could say a word olivia said

"Dad why bother yourself by choosing, obviously I'm better than Ondina at everything. I mean she didn't go through the normal princess education so you know, she might not be able to cope". Before I could refute that statement my mother said

" Olivia is right, Ondina doesn't have any idea of the principles of a princess or on how to lead a nation. So I think it's better to just present Olivia for marriage"

" Well it's not my choice to make so I can't choose no one" my father replied. Before I could storm out of the room in anger Onyx said

" That's not true, Olivia is more than experienced in everything about national

administrations. Since nobody decided to educate her when she was younger I took her to my classes and she learnt from there. At some point, she grew to be better than me her elder brother. Apart from that she is skilled in every aspect on how to be a good leader so she is also qualified to rule. "

" And how are you so sure about that?" Mom said tauntingly

" Who do you think solved the case about the attack and brought up the idea of cooperation"

he said and left the table. I followed him because I couldn't handle the death stares of Olivia.

" Do you want to go out " Onyx asked me in the hallway.

" Sure" I replied and we left the house for the city.
