CHAPTER 10: One Step Ahead

Onyx POV

"I wonder how I'll bring up the matter to him" I said to myself. I walked out of the library and went to my dad's study. I saw him smiling with a man I've never seen before, they looked at me and the man smiled and said

" This must be the famous prince Onyx"

" Son, this is the ambassador of the Ovrinoda kingdom" my father said. I smiled and shook the man's hand. He stood up and said

" I'll be taking my leave, have a nice day" then he left.

I explained the whole situation to my father and he was unusually calm.

" Ohh son, that won't be a problem" he exclaimed after I had told him about the solution, then he continued

" I've already signed a treaty with Ovrinoda kingdom stating that our kingdom will assist each other and even after the war ends we will remain as one strong Kingdom with each of our heirs ruling the throne"

"Ummm, so you have indirectly joined our two kingdoms together" I asked in disbelief

"No son don't take it like that it's for our benefits and expansion of the kingdom" he answered. I shook my head again and asked

"What If they want more power after the war "

" If it ever happens we will deal with it later but now, we have a more pressing issue" my father said

" And what's it this time" I asked in frustration

" They want to seal our agreement with marriage" he answered.

" What sort of condition is that" I exclaimed

" Well we might have a bigger problem" he stated.

" what? " I asked

" You might not be able to rule this kingdom at all" he answered. I stood up in rage and asked

" What is the meaning of what you are saying"

" The thing is that they only have sons in their royal family so it's impossible for you to get married into their family. And it's the couple that gets married that would rule" he explained. i looked at him and said

" I don't care I'm ruling and that's final, I've been training my whole life for this and I won't let anything stop me now" . After saying that I left in a fit of rage and bumped into Mom in the way but I was to angry to even apologize to her.

I went to my room, got dressed as a normal citizen and left for the city.

I got to the main square and I decided to go to the bar to have some drinks. After taking some shots, I saw something familiar. It looked like the cloak my mother wore today so I decided to check it out.

I followed the person holding the cloak to a secret chamber. I looked inside through the window and saw Olivia and my mother with some unknown guy, I looked closely and realized something..... no, it can't be true.

...... Few Hours Later......

I sneaked into my room very late, I felt light headed so I took a cold bath to awaken my senses. I laid down on the bed, I still couldn't believe what I encountered this evening but one thing was for sure, Ondina had to rule. I closed my eyes and drifted into a deep sleep.

I found myself running around in circles and shouting Ondina's name, there was fire everywhere and I couldn't find her. Then I looked up an saw Ondina falling off a cliff burning. I ran to her but she had already fallen.

"Ondina!!!" I screamed waking up from that nightmare. It felt too real, I had to figure out what is going on before things went out of hand.

I woke up panting from that terrible nightmare

, it just felt too real to overlook. Why would I jump off a cliff by myself for no reason and why was I on fire. I shook my head and stood up from my mattress, one thing was sure I was in grave danger and I had to ask someone for help. I thought of something and decided that onyx was my best option right now.
