Caleb wandered along the streets, enjoying the beautiful objects and the many boutiques.
While walking along the well-constructed concrete paths of the streets, Caleb noticed something: many of the Magus in town wore the typical businessman vestment, but every now and then, he spotted a Magus with a cape and ancient armour, or even more surprising, he spotted a Magus wearing a black blazer, with a black hoodie underneath it, and black jeans.
"That looks comfortable..." Caleb said when he sighted the Magus in question.
In addition to what Caleb had discovered, the city was solely a business location for the Magus to sell and acquire products. The settlement was also where a Magus who had gone on a long journey but had yet to fulfil a task would rest.
It was the greatest spot to relax because the region was only accessible to the Magi, and by using the Instantaneous travel gates, they could move from one location to another more quickly.
In the case of the students, they would only travel to the city for lunch or supper at a restaurant, or to repair their weaponry. Students were not permitted to buy anything outside the Academy, such as potions or armour until they reached their third year.
"A library..." Caleb stopped in front of the city's library and immediately thought of going inside to do more research about demons and the celestial demons, "maybe I will get more information inside..."
The library appeared to be spacious and well-maintained from the exterior, considering its antiquity. The white-painted structure has a huge entryway and walls with purple diamond shapes on it. There was a four-pointed star at the top of the edifice, representing the holy scroll religion's emblem.
Caleb, on the other hand, was not anticipating what he saw once inside the building. The inside of the structure was ten times larger than the outside. Thousands of shelves stacked in rows, one on top of the other. In addition, pupils were floating on little clouds to reach all of the shelves.
The library looked even more magical than Velris city, and Caleb loved everything about it! As he walked further into the library, right in front of him, a decent amount of white dust appeared and materialised into a small cloud.
He looked down at the cloud and expected it to do something, however, after a moment of it just floating there motionless, Caleb decided to react first.
"I'm guessing I've got to step on it...'
When he walked on the cloud, it began to move around the library, travelling about it.
"Woah... I don't know how this thing works, but this is nuts!" Caleb shouted.
He peered around the library, wondering how he was going to find anything on the celestial demons.
'How in the fucks am I gonna find anything about the celestial demons... this place is too big,'
While Caleb was wondering where he was going to find what he was looking for, the cloud came to a halt, almost pressuring Caleb to fall off. It started moving again, and this time it looked to be heading in a specific location.
When cloud users understand what they want and where they want to go, the cloud will instantaneously analyse that information and transport them to their destination. It's similar to reading someone's mind.
The cloud halted just at a bookshelf and floated a little higher to a row of the bookshelf after flying for a few minutes.
"It took me to where I wanted to be..." Caleb said looking closely at the books, "this school truly has some fascinating inventions,"
He scanned the names of most of the books in the row, looking for anything on celestial demons or dark demon, but they all merely presented generic information about demons.
Caleb had partially expected this result because he had conducted studies on demons and had never discovered anything regarding celestial demons in his investigations.
"Damn it, just one fucking book or even scroll will do," Caleb whispered looking harder for records of what he was looking for.
As he looked through the books again, he came upon one headed 'The Secret of their Power.' On the spine of the book was a frightening black hand with long slim fingers and sharp razor black nails at the tips of each.
"Let's give this one a try..." Caleb whispered taking the book out off the shelf,
He sat on his magical cloud, legs crossed, and opened the book to the first few pages. Exhibit 1: "Who are they? by John Kaiser"
"John Kaiser... he's one of the most famous Magus in history, so this book should be interesting,"
Caleb began reading the book, assuming that it was, without a doubt, about demons.
"The demons, the cruel and strong beings striving against humans for global control. Most people don't know much about demons, beyond that they are humanity's ULTIMATE NEMESIS. Demons first arose thousands of years ago during the early ages of human civilization, and nothing is known about how these demons first appeared. The high believers of the holy scroll think that the existence of demons is a punishment from the great ancestors for our misdeeds, but scientists feel that devils are an advanced species and the key to human evolution. The term Demon is derived from the Firish (Ancient language) word Dilibraemonum, where Dili stands for evil and braemonum stands for power. The High Believers picked this moniker because they saw demons as malevolent spirits born of human transgressions. The demons evolved and spread throughout the millennia. In today's world, there are numerous types of demons: spirits, beasts, and jaegers."
As Caleb read that last sentence he nodded his head and sighed, "This info is easy to find on Goosearch, what I need is something with a bit more uncommon information... Some info that Goosearch doesn't give,"
He switched the page to the index, expecting to discover something spicy than what he had just read, and while searching the index, he came across Exhibit 5: The legendary demon lord's army by Emilia Hanson.
"Another famous Magus?" Caleb said in a confused tone, "So this book only piled up the research of many Magi..."
Being a Magus entailed not only slaying demons, but also learning more about them, developing new magical methods, and constructing fantastical weapons and armour. In this scenario, the Magi credited in the book were well-known researchers who had helped to learning more about the demons.
"Whatever, this one might be what I'm looking for..." Caleb whispered turning the pages of the book until he reached the Exhibit.
"The demon ruler and his army may easily be a planetary-level calamity if they were to come back in this period of humanity. Humanity believes that the Magus have the upper hand since we have grown stronger. Despite the fact that the Magus society has gained the upper hand, it is an irrefutable reality that both the Magus society and the demons have weakened in comparison to their prime era, and the major reason for the Magus society having the upper hand over the demons is because the demons have been weakened at a higher degree The demon lord's reign was the bloodiest and most deadly period in human history. In today's world, the lower rank troops of the demon lord's army would be called high-grade demons, while the demon lord's top ranks were thought untouchable. The troops were at the bottom of the army's hierarchy, followed by the demon messengers, and just behind the demon lord were his generals, also known as celestial or primordial demons."
"There you go!" Caleb shouted from the top of his lungs leaning back and nearly falling off his cloud, "I knew I'd find something in this library,"
His elation was short-lived, however, as his watch beeped and a small holographic screen emerged above the watch.
"Curfew in 30 minutes, it is highly advised to begin heading to your dormitory, where you will still be able to access your dorm library,"
Caleb was bummed when he received the message, but he knew he could return here whenever he had unanswered questions or simply wanted to learn more. He put the book back on the shelf as the cloud gradually fell to the ground, allowing Caleb to exit the premises.
The sky was now darkening, and the gleaming lights along the extraordinary commercial streets added to the spectacle. A few students were still milling about, eating an ice cream cone or a lollipop while conversing with their classmates, but Caleb could see the majority of them moving into the town's Portal area.
Caleb's first day at the Academy had gone quickly, and he had already gotten something beneficial from it. With this, he couldn't help but anticipate the Academy's unlimited potential for him, and how strong he would become once he had learned everything.
