The New Project
Thursday, 23rd July 1992
"How did you do?" asked his mother as she picked him up from the local School where his Exams happened.
"I completed all questions. Pretty sure I will receive full marks or pretty close to the perfect score. Oh, and I saw Hermione at the exams for the younger years." Said Matthew without a doubt. That wasn't arrogance that was how he did on all his exams for his non-magical education. He even got offered to skip grades, with the help of the AI Chip and his improved Mental Capabilities he pretty much was a Genius and would get such an offer sooner or later. But that would just mean more work for him and didn't matter for him since he would be able to attend University after he completed the Exams in the same year as he graduated from Hogwarts. There was no need to rush that part of his education since people would only ask questions about why he is lazing around for a few years if he finished early while still attending Hogwarts.
"I am proud of you Matthew, you are really doing well. I and your father couldn't be happier. Since you finished all your schoolwork over the Summer enjoy the rest of the Holidays however you want." Said his Mother before adding, "But don't forget tomorrow in one week we have a dinner invitation from the Dursleys. We already said you would also come."
"No Problem Mom. A friend from School is their Nephew and lives with them, so I won't get bored." Explained Matthew while adding mentally, 'And I can improve his home life… maybe?'
"So how is Hermione accepting the Life with Magic?" began his Mother to chat. After a while the Mother-Son Pair arrived at the driveway of their Family House, the time passed during their little chatting really quickly.
~ Scene Break ~
In the afternoon Matthew was once again in his Laboratory inside his House Trunk. It was time to start his next Project. This Project is rather a large-scale Project with many smaller Projects and would give him in the end a distinctive advantage over any other Wizards. It would also solve his current lack of manpower preventing him from taking full advantage of the Room of Lost Things last year.
The basic to that was a Problem many First Generation magical s were trying to solve, it was even a popular topic used in many Harry Potter fanfics in his last life. How to use electronics with magic, the higher the concentration of magic the quicker an electronic device would break. Magical districts like Diagon Alley or the Ministry used usually containment Wards to prevent the magical energy from leaking in large amounts and affecting the electronics around them. But this didn't allow them to use electronic devices inside the District, Ministry, or Hogwarts for a long time. They wouldn't break instantly but long time exposure would break the device.
In Fanfics authors usually used a half-assed solution like carving some Runes onto the Device that isolates the electronics from magic and it works, but that solution is a paradox in itself since the Runes use magic itself and are close to the electronics which would affect them. This is the hard reality many Muggleborns faced, they even published Books with their research and couldn't solve the problem. Although Matthew had an idea how to solve that particular problem, after all, Alchemy allowed one to create new Materials with specific Properties, his new knowledge would probably allow him to create a Material that prevents Magic from leaking into the Device, but that wasn't what Matthew planned to do.
The practice of manipulating electronics with magic was usually called techno-magic, but Matthew wanted to accomplish the complete Opposite. He had no idea how nobody had that Idea yet but why not recreate machines, electric devices, and technology with magic? Wasn't that the superior solution? Why rely on electricity and their unclean and bulky Power Generation if you just could use Magical Energies that were all around you? Matthew would be the first Wizard on Earth who created Magitek. A combination of the advantages of Magic and Technology without their respective Weaknesses.
The first device he was currently creating was a CNC-Machine to allow him to carve small runes onto anything. More Runes would allow him to create better artifacts or machines, this would be also the machine he would use to create products he would sell in Diagon Alley. A Computerized Numerical Control machine was a device controlled by a Computer in his case for now his AI Chip, he probably would create a magical Computer in the Future but for now, the AI Chip was enough for his Laboratory. This machine worked on multiple axes, this one was designed for six and allowed automatic and precise processing of different workpieces.
Magic could accomplish many things, but precision wasn't really a thing. Since Centuries Wizards still relied on Smithing and Similar handwork to create their artifacts. Even Alchemy could only create rather bulky forms and the rest was accomplished through handwork. Even now Matthew had to carve the Rune Formations for his device by hand, with his CNC-Machine it would be much easier although he would use that one only once for his Personal use. It was after all only the First Generation created with primitive tools.
Once he finished with the CNC Machine Mark One he used it to create another one. The Mark Two had already multiple improvements that were only possible by using a more precise carving Method than by hand. The Mark Two had more axis and most importantly a Laser Carver that allowed Matthew to create microscopic Runes on hard Objects. He wouldn't use this machine for the Artifacts he would sell in the future, for that the Mark One CNC Machine was good enough. It would already be able to create Products like Brooms superior to anything on the current market.
To Accomplish this Matthew took only one day, the rest of the Week before visiting the Dursleys was spent on the Main Objective of the whole Project. This Objective combined almost everything on the knowledge he gathered it especially used Engineering, Physics, Alchemy, Enchanting, Golem Creation, and even Necromancy particular the inferni creation method. Yes, he created a Magitek Robot for his future main workforce.
"Can you hear me Sarah?" asked Matthew after he placed one of the three sub-chips inside the Robot.
"Yes, I can hear you. Worker Drone MK 1 is fully operational." Replied the mechanic Voice of Sarah from the Robot.
"Perfect!" said Matthew as he inspected the Robot.
The Worker Drone where still relatively Simple and didn't have much Combat Potential but as a worker, it was good enough. It was mostly made of Steel with some magical ingredients mixed into it. It had protection against transfigurations and direct manipulation inbuilt but offensive Spells would still destroy it relatively Quickly since Steel wasn't strong enough to resist high heat and similar. Its arms could be exchanged with different tools and attachments. One of them was a specific Rune formation allowing it to heal splinching from apparition. Matthew did that so he could practice apparition without the help of others.
Its normal arms were formed like Human hands and pretty much allowed them to do everything a human does just without feeling pain. The Robot had eyes created through Alchemy and Runes similar to Moody's just without the extra enchantments like X-Ray vision, it cost too much Power. As a Power source, it used like a Wizard the magical energy of the environment, but because of the lack of better materials, it was limited to the level of a third-year Student. One of the main Problems of these Drones was how to control them, the animation charms of Inferni and Golems only allowed very simple and unprecise motoric movements and not much control. Which was good enough as Canon fodder but as a worker who needed to make decisions not good. So he overcame the Problem with the new ability of the AI Chip it gained by absorbing the Soul Seed of Rowena Ravenclaw s Diadem. Which would allow Matthew to create three Drones for now.
