Chapter 58: Freak Out

I padded back to my room, feeling like the weight of the world was crashing down on me, suffocating me. Professor Daniels hadn't given me much of anything except that curbing my dark side was going to be hella tough. My head hung down as I turned onto the hallway to my dorm room.

"Where have you been?" Reed said, marching toward me.

Behind him were Jasper on crutches and Kento.

"We've been searching the whole school for you," Reed continued. "You've not answered your phone or texts."

"What are you talking about?" I took my phone out of my pocket. "I checked it this morning and there was nothing from any of you." But when I looked, missed calls, texts, and voicemails lit up the screen.

"What Reed is trying to say is we were worried about you." Kento smiled and the shield around my heart cracked.

No, I couldn't do this. Couldn't get too comfortable and let them into my life where they would get hurt or worse.
