Stopping at her mother's residence, Emily thought it best not to knock; therefore, she allowed herself into the house. As always, the house was quiet, and there was no sight of her mother. She thought of calling out to her mother, but Emily was too angry to alert her to her presence. She wanted her mother to be shaken by her presence.
Emily heard the sound of someone sobbing, and immediately she followed the sound that was coming from her mother's room. Emily tiptoed towards her mother's room and peaked, only to see her mother looking out her room window, but her back faced Emily.
"Why are you crying?" Emily's mother jumped up with fear, and she stared at Emily wide-eyed. She was quick to hide something behind her, which made Emily suspicious.
"Oh! Emily, you did not tell me that you were coming today," her mother responded nervously. She smiled, but not even a smile could fool Emily.
"What are you hiding behind there?" she questioned.
