Shayla walked across the street to the Family Placement Center. It was just the perfect day. The sun was shining, and the breeze was amazing. She felt extremely confident as she made her way to the door of the old brick building with the shiny windows and tarnished sign.
She was about to open it when she heard her name being hollered from across the street.
It was Evan.
He was rushing to her as fast as he could.
"Evan, what are you doing here?" she asked, stepping away from the door.
"I know you are a proud, independent woman. I love that about you. But I plan to be in your future. Heck, I plan to be your forever and with that being said, I'm going in here with you because getting Amelia is not just your goal, it's ours."
